The Plane Table
The plane table is a concrete stand with a metal cutout that you can line up with the horizon to identify all of the mountains on the horizon. Very old school. A very short walk from the road but you have to climb the steps up over the fence. Not too difficult unless you have problems with your hips or are on crutches. The view improves dramatically if you climb the hill further behind it but I believe it's private land so if you do so be respectful.The Maori paintings are super close and you will get a similar view from that walk.
