Green Spark Solar

Paid my deposit in July 2021. It took ages to get an acknowledgement, in September 2021 they finally advised I'd get an installation towards the end of 2021. In January 2022 I requested a date for the install which was unanswered. After several attempts to contact Richard and Alban I have yet to get a date for my installation, only a handful of excuses on the rare occasion they replied. I'll be looking up the ombudsman to recover my deposit.

Green Spark Solar finished installation of the solar panels and I am deeply pleased and impressed. Company was happy to fit in work according to my schedule, came on time, and didn’t stop working until everything was up and running. I was especially impressed with technicians and team cheerful and friendly response to all my questions & comments. . All in all, a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend GSS to anyone thinking of going solar.Special thanks also company manager and owner to get this job done and for providing such a wonderfully easy way to go solar, I have no hesitation in recommending you to anyone thinking of “going solar”.All the best. Hope and other customers can find the same comfort and same experience.

AVOID THIS COMPANY! Where to start! 2 years of problems sun or no sun. Their marketing is very misleading, very convincing but communication and aftercare is poor. I spent just under $40k on a system that is so poorly put together, inefficient and overloads very quickly. Wrong generator set up. Batteries that don’t hold charge. 5 panels on the roof doing nothing- they were never connected in the first place. I’ve had Far North solar (amazing) inspect and find that the invertor wasn’t even suitable for the rest of system.I’ve had several issues with the invertor and been ignored. Thankfully the supplier has been most helpful. The electricians I’ve had look at it have all said the same thing. The invertor a fine but the entire system is poorly put together.

Ended up being very disappointed. Home energy and storage systems are a big investment, I would not recommend this company if you are looking for capability to supply, install and support a stand alone home energy system.

I paid this company 10K upfront for my 4kw system in December 2020! It was installed April 2021. It was a drama to get it signed off and they blamed the installer and took their sweet time. I ended up getting support from Scanpower here in Tararua who were fantastic and went above and beyond to help me. It was powered on in December 2021 - a year after I paid them. The inverter faulted continuously after a very short time and it was shut down about 12 weeks after start up. Numerous emails and advocacy from Green Van Electrical (who are FANTASTIC and should not be confused with Green Spark Solar and are still trying to help me get this company to fix my system. It’s 2 years soon since they had my money paid in good faith and they couldn’t care less about me. If anyone wishes to join me in a legal action against this company you are welcome to pm me. I am devastated, and to make things even worse – I asked when quoted for a battery ready system and have only recently been told the inverter they used is NOT suitable. I am left with no working solar system 10K out of pocket. I am appointing a lawyer! Let me know if you would like to know more or have a similar problem with this company please. I would not advise you giving them your money, go elsewhere. Unfortunately I had to put an actual star here to put a review up :(

Difficult every step of the way.. When I got their offer for solar panels+installation, their offer included looking after the application with the power company for exporting power onto the grid. In reality this step happens just as slow, confusing and complicated as the whole solar panels installation process. I would definitely not choose Green Spark again if I knew the reality behind their marketing. :(

I paid my deposit in October 2021, keep getting fobbed off by Richard who does not even have the decency to acknowledge a message. I was told installation would be January then February, I gave him 2, 3, and 4 March as I will be on annual leave for install dates. Messaged him this morning still heard nothing from him. Tony the sales rep brilliant . Sorry Greenspark.

We put down deposits for 2 systems for our existing property and a new build in July, with the assurance that our order would be included in the July shipment.7 months on, our systems are still not ordered due to the company attempting and unsuccessfully to parallel import the inverter bypassing local distributors. We were not aware this prior to.Dozens of emails, the owners have only bothered to reply once informing shipping delaying and product in transit. The salesperson have just informed our system has not even been ordered yet due to the above ‘challenge’ in sourcing.Will update this review as and when we get a response. At this stage, I would not recommend this company. Poor communication, lacking in integrity and honesty.
