Views of South Island; Makara windfarm and native bush cover. I find acsending from the Truscott Street entrance then exiting at Northern Mclintock suits my fitness goals. Plenty of steps!

Up 20 sets of stairways then follow the old coach road for striking views of the city, Mt Kaukau summit, and the wind farm (and a bonus tunnel)

Gentler entry point to Kaukau (but still steep). Nice grassy park with a tap at the bottom and a few good streams for dogs to play in on the way up. Some car parks but not heaps, can always use on street parking if it's busy though.

Walk was great. Starts off in the bush, then you catch different views as you get to the peak. Multiple ways and places to head up from, it can be sludgy and a bit cold so be prepared like always. Sunset is stunning, you can see the Sth Island, if you do that take a head lamp to have light when you return. Worth a visit.

The Jville entrance to Mt kaukau is well maintained the stairs are decently new and stable. A good place for a short hike on a nice weekend

Perfect place to see the entire city from above abd escape the typical city noise and explore on foot

Great little walk. A few flights of stairs and it is quite steep. Nice views and the top and places to picnic at the bottom. Recommend bringing water and sunblock. While the walk is relatively sheltered you will be exposed at the top.

Can't beat Wellington on a good day. Beautiful calm midwinter day. Awesome views all the way to South Island snowcapped mountains. Surreal sea fog over Wellington harbour
