Shirley Bakery

Bought a Mince pie today as they were sold out of the Ham Salad rolls that I wanted. First bite and I could taste something burnt, though it might just be a little bit of burnt pastry or something and that would be it so kept eating. After several bites I realised I was still getting an unpleasant burnt taste in my mouth and realised all the filling had the burnt taste and that probably the whole batch of filling must have been burnt when being cooked in the pot, but that they had decided to put it in the pies and sell them anyway! Pretty disappointed, had to throw the rest of this not cheap ($6.80) pie away as I was going to an appointment and didn’t have the time to go back and ask for a refund. The NZ economy is going to the pack, what was a great bakery is now selling overpriced badly made burnt pies, we’ve got to change this bloody Labour government and put things back how they were back in the days when you could trust a pie!

Shirley bakery does make all our pies on site. The owner owns Woolston Bakery on ferry Road. Not buns bakery

This bakery is one of Christchurch’s best for price! The selection is good and the slice sizes are amazing! We always go here this side of town.

Had Steak and Cheese done the old style, love it not watery. Lots of melted cheese and plenty of steak included. They make excellent Latte too. Can eat in too. Pleasant atmosphere.

Had a bad experience today. Went in around 3pm to meet someone for coffee. Told them we were sititmg down and the girl serving said she just mopped so we can't sit. So we sat outside. Then she packed up the seating and bins outside as if she really didn't want anyone there. The store closes at 5pm. It was incredibly uncomfortable to be there eat and have coffee there.

Finally found a great pie for $5.50. Awesome, flaky crispy golden pastry, tasty filling not too salty, chunky meat. Fantastic!!!

Price is getting ridiculous for the quality of food that you get. They don't even bake their own pies anymore, it's all from buns bakery. Pies are nearly $8. Can easily get far better pies for less money at many other bakeries in Christchurch.

Incredibly rude staff not good service at all she needs to learn how to treat the customers she’s serving and fix her attitude. (Girl with glasses) wasn’t wearing a name badge.
