Bealey Spur Track
Spectacular, you don't stop at the hut. You keep going right to the top of the mountain.A summit cairn is usually in place to mark the highest point on the mountain.This is a man-made pile (or stack) of stones.

Nice day hike that is not too steep. Takes you through the forest to an old hut after about 2 hrs passing wonderful views. Past the hut another hour and you reach the peak with even more great views

Superb especially in winter snow capped upper ridges must push further past hut.Allow extra time to explore a further 2hrs on top of 2.5hrs to hut

We did this track early July 2020 and it was amazing! The views are spectacular! The views start from about an hour in and continue for most of the remainder of the journey. The best views we have had on our hikes to-date. The area had heavy snowfall a few days before and a little bit of rain, so there was snow, frozen pools of water and a little bit of ice (the ice was not very heavy on the actual track). It was a winter wonderland. The track took us 4.5hrs altogether including a short sandwich stop at the top. It was uphill but not straight up. Well worth doing!

Awesome hike, long but gradual climb. Beautiful 360 degree views of the Valley, Rolleston ranges and Arthurs pass. Took me 5 1/2 hrs to do the track.

Bealey Spur Track
Did this track on Queens Birthday, was aim to do the Temple Basin Track but deep snow which cause us to change plan to this track. Awesome hike experience with stunning view of Snow mountains and Waimakariri River, relatively relax path with friendly steepness to the lookout point (2.5hrs to and 2.0hr back). Only the path was covered with snow and ice after the first snowing in the early of winter, meaning it was slippery and need to pay extra care and having proper hiking gears like boots is ideal.

Beautiful walk and not too physically demanding. Must do if you go there: don't stop at the hut, continue walking uphill for another 40mins or so until you reach a minor peak just above 1500m. One of a kind 360 views from there.

We do alot of walks but this one was a stand out , took us just over 2 hours to make it to the hut and roughly the same heading back down the hill but we're taking our time and checking out the views , took a 1hour 50 to get there from chch , fully loved this walk very rewarding

During October, it was an upward slog through muddy trails with sparse views up. The track ends at a very rudimentary hut.
