Maihan Supermarket & Halal Meat - Middle Eastern Grocery Store Christchurch

One of the places with zero credibility and worst service. Have tried this place 3 times giving benefit of doubt but without fail for all many times they served us with mixed meat. Even after requesting for goat meat we were served lamb and goat mixed. The meat quality is worst. No going back after this

One of my favourite places to go for more interesting meats. Great prices and variety of cuts. They regularly have harder to find meats like hogget and mutton and do full beef shins and other rarer cuts. All delicious and they are lovely there and will cut meat to order happily.

Friendly place , prices reasonable. Products are good and fresh

Be aware that their products are always near expiry date (if not already expired), so could be stale On the shelves for a long time. Also service is terrible. The woman keeps rushing you around and tells you that they are about to close EVERY single time Any time you go. They Just don’t like western customers!! There are plenty of similar stores with fresher products and better service in town...But as for this one you should simply AVOID!

Great selection of middle eastern products and other, meat is fresh and cheaper than other supermarkets / butchers.. friendly staff. Recommended to shop there.

Excellent quality meat, with no added preservatives, each day freshly stocked in the store, their other products are so good, multi-variety products that are not usually in any grocery store.

Looking great in the new location. Great meat, diverse range of Iranian and Afghan foods. Great parking at the back off Wordsworth. Lots more great stuff in stock now: halal jellies and candy, nuts and dried fruit, some fresh items (Afghan naan and green chilies), pickled veggies.

Good selection of items, friendly staff who are helpful. But I have had lamb mince from there and got a bit sick, I got lamb mince again thinking it may not have been their lamb that made me sick the first time, but I got sick the second time after their mince and so did my wife, from this i can confirm the mince was bad both times and should not have been sold. The mince was also bought months apart, so it was not just one bad sheep.

We have shopped at Maihan Supermarket for 4+ years & love their Customer Service & Meats. We eat whole foods so we purchase Mince & Chicken mainly & to be honest their meats are much tastier & cheaper than the supermarkets. We also get our Fat from them & render ourselves. They have a mini supermarket & quite often we take a look around at the different foods/items they have on the shelves, as they are very different to what we are used too. They are a lovely & very welcoming family & we look forward to seeing them. Love their new premises & parking at back is easy with the entrance door right there. Yummy meats & presented well. 5 ⭐️ Overall for service, quality of produce/meats & hygiene, Beautiful family who certainly take good care of their customers & their wee business….
