With Gavin's clear instructions about finding his place on beautiful Kawau Island, we discovered a wonderful collection of turned creations. Crafted from New Zealand natives timbers, these turned platters and bowls are exquisite and reasonably priced. Further, Gavin shared with us how he sources his wood, prepares the wood for turning, keeps his chisels sharp, and finally how he crafts his collectibles. A great experience. Thanks, Gavin.

A visit to Gavins Gallery is simply perfect . Its amazing position up on a promontory on Kawau Island, its owner who is so passionate about his wood turning and his bowls and platters that are just so beautiful. We visited Gavin on a Saturday morning in June which required a bit of organising with the ferry people, but then went on to Mansion House to explore that and to enjoy coffee at their cafe. Overall an excellent day, very many highlights but Gavins Gallery topped it all.

I am a Kiwi living overseas and wanted to send a koha with a true Aotearoa flavor. I found Gavin's website and was impacted by the soul of this craftsman and the strength and beauty of his work. I contacted Gavin and his replies to my questions were always prompt, friendly, and thoughtful. He offered to include a letter from me to the receiver which was most appreciated and kept me in touch all the way. I hope to one day visit Gavin on Kawau Island. Thank you Gavin!

We were looking for some hand made wooden bowls with character and found Gavin’s collection online.After viewing his work we decided on three different pieces and when we received them we were amazed at the craftsmanship on all three pieces.We would certainly recommend Gavin and wooden bowls to anyone looking for something different and bespoke.We will certainly be buying again in the near future
