Great walkway to burn your calories and to be in the wilderness. So many rabbits are running around when you reach the top. Can see all the way to Makara and the wind turbines.

Skyline Walkway trailhead - Old Coach Road
At the end of Mclintock st there are two choices: up towards Mt Kaukau or down the Old Coach Road either way can stretch for an hour or so. Now there is another option: The Totara Park path which zig zags through the Bush between Mclintock st and Broderick Rd.

Skyline Walkway trailhead - Old Coach Road
Joins onto the Skyline Walkway, passing over farmland in places; you can walk to Mt Kaukau from here or go to Rifle Range Road. You can also see the wind turbines and South Island on a good day.The path is exposed to the elements, and there are no shelters up here, so I can't recommend coming on a windy or rainy day.

Can be brutally gusty to the point where you cannot move. However, I believe it's the best way to get up to kaukau lookout.

No steps to Mt kaukau! It's long but worth the views. Again, this is a Long walk compared to say coming from Simla crescent or via khandalla cafe.
