DO NOT change money with Travelex Currency Exchange. We did because we were told it was hard to get Vietnamese dong in NZ and you had to order it through a NZ bank (which we ran out of time to do). When we exchanged, their rate was 10,600 VND to $1NZD when the market rate was approximately 14,000 VND. I tried to argue but their response she was ‘we need to make a profit’. We lost 25% of the NZD cash we had to exchange on a bad exchange rate before we had even left the country! By far the biggest rip off we experienced on our trip. We would have been much better off just using a local ATM in Vietnam for the normal 2-3% exchange commission. Our mistake, we will know for next time.

Just got FJD out in Christchurch Airport was served by Amit highly recommend his service was quick friendly, No hassle definitely would use it again.

Said open 9am so waited. When get there a guy was serving the first customer, took ages and then looked at us and left without say anything!! Thought coming back straight away but NO. There were few people waited behind us too. More people came but left as no staff. He came back 9:40am. Did exchange in the end but was not nice at all.

If only the main Western Union knew how many stops we made from Ashburton to Christchurch and not one single WU was open for cash out, it's frustrating.Jane from Travelex Airport Branch has been very helpful. Thank you so much for your service.Apparently the only WU opened in Christchurch.
