Matt and Dan's Campervans

Highly recommend Matt & Dan’s. My wife and I spent a very enjoyable week in “Nelson Van-Dela”. The van was beautifully fitted-out, easy to drive, comfortable and well equipped. Everything went smoothly, Brent provided great service and we had a terrific holiday.

A bloody good van! We hired the Van-gelina Jolie for our 12 day trip around the middle of the South Island. The van had been decked out with everything we needed. They even provided a hike tent and sleeping bag so we could do the Kepler track. Bed was comfy with lots of storage space, and really easy kitchen set up to cook up a storm. Couldn’t have had a better time exploring NZ. Can’t wait to come back and explore what we couldn’t fit in!

We were fortunate to find this rental company in Christchurch on our trip to South Island; they truly made our trip about the South Island special and were a pleasure to work with. My wife and I were looking for a more upscale campervan experience for our honeymoon and they met the mark. We ultimately rented the A-List van from them and it was a great experience. On arrival in Christchurch, Brent picked us up at our hotel and took us to their location to show us the van. He explained to us how everything worked with the van and gave us all sorts of tips and tricks to surviving on the roads (keep left!). The van itself was wonderfully upgraded with wood paneling and all sorts of creature comfort that made the experience pleasant. Everything was clean, functional, and easy to work. Driving the van was not nearly as difficult as we anticipated neither and we had no mechanical problems the entire trip. Ultimately, renting from Matt and Dan's was much better than renting from one of the bigger campervan companies. Their vans were of a much more elevated design and their customer service was exceptional, which made the experience much more pleasant and special. They were super flexible on the return of the van as well. I highly recommend this company for campervan rental, especially for people looking for a more upscale experience and looking to support a great small business over one of the large commercial, mass-produced rental options.

My partner and I had the most amazing trip to New Zealand with Matt & Dan's Campervans - I can't recommend them enough! The vans are perfectly designed, minimal in all the right ways, with plenty of storage nooks for everything you need to bring with you. We drove the entire South Island without a single issue. Most importantly, we slept so well! The bed is actually very comfortable and the van is pretty soundproof at night. A magical experience all around! I'm telling all my friends.

The team at Matt & Dan's campervans are great !The vans are beautifully fitted out and couldn't ask for a better campervanning experience. The interiors feel like a cosy room and you really get the best of both worlds. The utensils and all the core cooking ingredients were extremely thoughtful and there was nothing we needed that wasn’t supplied for us.A great way to see the country and support local businesses especially in times like these :)

We rented a van for 3 weeks in Nov/Dec, and had an amazing time exploring the top half of South Island. The van was so much better than one we had rented from elsewhere on a previous trip!Communication was great, all the way through the booking process, and the van itself (Dakota Vanning!) was really well equipped and designed. Lots of little touches that made all the difference.If/when we visit NZ again, we will be back for more.

Hired 'The Biggie' for a South Island trip during February 2023 for two people. The van has everything; room to stand, super comfy permanent bed, heaps of storage space, running water, induction cooktop, power outlets, dinner table and bench, fan and heater, comfy cabin. The lads have finished the interior beautifully. Dealing with Brent for the hire and pick-up (he got us from the airport) was smooth and easy. People had a good look at the setup at every campsite and town we visited. 100% recommend Matt and Dan's, thanks guys.

We had the best time with Matt and Dan's A-List Campervan touring the south island for 17 days. The bed was comfortable, fit my partner who is 6'4 /195cm (though he was too tall to sit up properly in the back of the van)

My partner and I rented Julie Vandrews (The Biggie) for about 2 weeks in the South Island. This was our first time doing the 'van life' and had the best time. It was helpful to have a self contained van so we could do a mix of freedom camp and pre-booked camp sites. Matt & Dan's Campervans are the best and only place you should book your vans with - well designed beautiful and practical interior, great communication and above all, they are good people. Hope you'll expand to North Island too!
