Christchurch Women's Hospital
Hello, I want to share my worst experience in a Women's hospital.I had a c-section and stayed in the hospital for a week in early January 2022.Registered Nurse - RoganOne of the registered nurses, her name is Rogan(curly hair, wears glasses, aged over 55ish) was very disrespectful and rude. She came to my room and said annoyingly, the room is so messy and dirty" so I need to clean the room with my unrecoverable body

my Partner Jane Nikolaison. got up early as she had to eat before 7am. then drove in from sefton at 10am to the christchurch woman's hostipal. waited for for her dnc til 6 30pm over 8 hours later was told they couldn't do it. ? having a miss carriage is already hard enough. Time off work for us both. it would of probaly been ok if they came in after a few hours an said its a no go. why would you make some one wait that long knowing exactly what they're going through. then tell then it can't be done 8 hours later ive never come across such a nightmare of a situation so unprofessional an incompetent. absolutely appalling treating people like that. payed for parking alday aswell what a joke. can you please contact us asap with a reply all you have to is say sorry. so I can show my boss at work this achelly did happen. I understand the health system is broken atm but just one person with basic child communication skills could or re organized this so it didn't waste so much time.

I had a very positive experience here this week in the birthing suite. The midwives and doctors were very supportive and patient with me. It is very obvious how busy they are. I feel it is good to remember that there is more than one patient in the hospital and the staff are doing the best they can with the resources they have.

All the medical team here are superb. I know people who work at HQ of the DHB so know what a mess this underfunded institution can be to work for. Every single person I interacted with here was incredibly friendly, hardworking and patient to our needs. No matter how tired you could tell they were they never let themselves or us down. Thank you for your hard work.

Went to this fantastic hotel this morning due to me visiting a relative who was feeling unwell. The staff was kind they offered free drinks of water and even a popsicle to my relative. They gave a free meal which was divine and even gave free room service with a stunning view. It was quite a enjoyable visit however there was an odd beeping sound in my relatives room but still was a fantastic experience.Photo of meal

I recently had my baby here and the on call midwives are terrible. They don't ask permission or explain what they are doing leaving you feel very manhandled! They even gave my daughter the Vitamin K injection after birth without even asking me if that was what my partner and I wanted and then it was not recorded anywhere that they had done this. When my midwife arrived she saw the injection mark in my daughter's leg and she could have been double dosed if this had not been picked up. I am in the process of making a complaint. The after maternity care is also awful, I had to top up with formula before my milk came in and usually had to wait half an hour or more for someone to come after I rang the bell. Try telling a newborn they have to wait for their milk. All in all an extremely terrible experience for myself. I would not recommend coming to Christchurch woman's at all.

I gave birth here in August 2020. I was in a lot of pain and requested an epidural but was turned down because they did not have a hospital midwife that could care for me who was epidural certified. My own midwife was not epidural certified but I was reassured prior that this won’t be a problem as a hospital midwife would have been able to care for me. I highly recommend that you choose an epidural certified midwife if this is something that you could potentially want during labour. My baby was taken to NICU after, and we had to stay at the hospital. My husband was only offered a hard chair overnight, and was not allowed to lie on the floor. This was after over 72hours of me in labour and he himself being exhausted.I wish the hospital could be better funded to provide better services.Otherwise I found the obstetrician who helped me and the NICU doctors all very helpful.

50/50 chance you will get someone that doesn't treat you like a thorn in their life. Im impressed with the friendly staff that stay positive working in that enviroment. With continued complications, the best accidental decision we made was to get discharged the have continued care in chch hospital next door which have amazing staff, food and care.
