I have eaten at platform 40 every time I head to the West Coast. It is such a beautiful spot with amazing food and awesome staff. The service is amazing every time, and always feel so welcomed. I especially love the cocktails! Definitely recommend.

It was pouring cats and dogs, so I stopped by to let the rain pass. The staff was incredibly friendly, letting me stay for an hour or more even after just ordering a chai latte. As I was sitting there, they asked me to help sample their new menu — they apparently change it every season.I was very impressed with the new menu, especially the chicken salad. The flavors were bright and deep — good umami, good acid to balance it out, and overall a pleasant dish. A nice change from very heavy traditional NZ dishes.The location is great, the view across the lake would have been amazing if it wasn’t raining, and overall would highly recommend this spot!

Lovely rustic setting with a great view of the old railway station and Lake Brunner beyond. Relaxed atmosphere. Meal choices were basic but satisfying. Staff are friendly and attentive. Just keep in mind that they sometimes close early depending on how busy they are so always call first to confirm.

Coffee was rather sharp or over extracted. Food was all fried and just ok. View was beautiful but place very cold. Nothing really wrong but a little uninspiring.

Great meals and services are excellent, mainly because of ZOE. She was helpful and supportive and had a fresh sense of humor to fit with our own humor to make a memorable dinner. Service was quick,efficient, and met all or needs. Thanks, Platform 40. Thanks, Zoe, we will definitely be back again!

View was lovely, however service was pretty poor, we were waiting for 45 minutes for our meals only for them to come out and say they were out of one the meals for lunch meaning they hadn’t even started our meal yet then waited another half an hour for three out of four meals to actually come out then another 15 minutes for the last meal to come out. The food was average nothing really to rave about. No apologies for the wait time either and other people received their meal even though they’d ordered after us.Food was not what was described on the menu and they were out of so much basic ingredients. Probably wouldn’t go there again

Nice lunch. I felt my lunch was a bit small but flavor wise, was fresh but couldve done with a bit more chilli considering it was advertised as Mexican shrimp salad. The burger was a fish fillet not a filleted fish(Dory)battered. The burger came with fries. I ordered kumara fries.In all nice lunch.

Don't go here if you're looking for afternoon tea/quick bite of something delicious as they only do meals. Certainly not a warm, friendly and inviting atmosphere as I was treated to a conversation about how it was so quiet and hard to keep going with 3 staff on that day doing nothing. These conversations are not suitable for front of house imho. I wouldn't go back

Spot on! Excellent lunch break on a full day's driving. Lovely spot, clean & comfortable, great view and so convenient. We'll be back.
