Renwick Domain Car Park

Ok FREE spot for an overnight park. Very small parking spaces, but lots of room if not full. Quiet overnight (next to Fire Station, but luckily no call outs!). Free. Right in Renwick. Playground. Toilets. Dog friendly. 10 min walk to Forrest winery for Sunday afternoon tasting with live music is recommended!

They have 10 park over spots for self contained motorhomes, between 6pm and 9am, max 2 nights.

I'm rating this location in terms of a freedom camp site knot as a recreation park) :One of the few places to freedom camp in Marlborough now.... The spaces are very tight, mostly suited to a small van and positioned very close together which could pose a risk in case of covid, or a fire in adjacent vehicle. Toilets were pretty dirty, no soap.+ve nice and close to shops, friendly locals, close to toilets,close to lovely wineries.

A good place for an overnight stop

The carpark is just that: a carpark surrounded by sportsfields. It is also a freedom campsite for both self contained and non-self contained vehicles. There are free (very well kept) toilets at the sports centre for all campers. There is a limit of 10 camper vehicles allowed though on specific spots (numbered 1-10), and you have to leave by 9am. Tip: there's an excellent fish 'n chips takeaway right around the corner!

Awesome sports car park

I'm rating as a s/c camper stop. We initially thought it was a nice park/sports field. A rude $%#% guy yelled/hassled us and said campers arent welcome and we should leave, (despite campers permitted in space we were parked) and put a real downer on our good vibe of Blenheim. Looked like he was going into the sports centre. Also alot of street racer wannabe cars coming in and out of the parking area. I dont usually rate badly but felt the need to share.

We tried to camp there last night. It is explained that only 10 vehicles are allowed overnight. We got there at 6pm, in order to make sure we found a spot (opens at that time) and a council vehicle drove around 8:30pm - nobody said anything, so we never suspected anything.Now, we got confused. We thought that the 10 vehicles were meant to be parked in one row as the sign that explains it, is just besides the 10th vehicle and has an arrow that encloses the 10 spots. We didnt really realise the spots HAD TO BE NUMBERED. They are alternativelly numbered and we didnt see them when parking as many other cars where there as it is a sports field.At 11pm, someone knocked our window and in a very rude way, loosing his manners without listening to us, told us that we didn't know how to read, that we were not there by 8 when he came around and that we were better off or he would make sure we were in trouble.We never opposed, but I tried to ask if he could explain how to understand that sign for next time, as we were also sleepy! We are fairly new at camping in free sites and were there on time. He denied seeing us several times.Really had a very bad experience with this extremelly rude and disrispectful man who never tried to empatize even a bit.Make sure you park well, or you'll go through a very rough encounter.
