Te pae Convention centre right opposite the rebuild repair of The Cathedral. Te pae absolutely stunning an inspiring view of Maori design with the sun shining down on te pae for me felt special an spiritual in front the flowing Avon river this very large beautiful Te pae our Convention Centre was worth the wait.

Cathedral Square Christchurch
Square mostly the way I remember it. Lots of missing buildings though. No doghouse a video game parlour that had excellent thick shakes with a lot of cream on the top. Very filling especially for a kid. No little lanes with a magic shop. Two excellent tea rooms not cafes. Their gone. Sad really. Still. The post office is still there.

Cathedral Square Christchurch
Cathedral church is being renovated after being hit by an earthquake. The place is in the middle of Christchurch city. There is a huge chess board around the church. Also different architectural sculptures around. There is a place to chill around like an open market and some piece of art around it.

The area still is covered in fencing but it is nice seeing the cathedral being rebuilt.

Cathedral Square Christchurch
I have not visited the Cathedral Square for more than 3 years. So much had changed since my last visit. It's busier and more alive now. I am extremely impressed with the new developments around the square. Looking forward to my next visit.

Cathedral Square Christchurch
Good sized church, which was still being repaired at the time I was there. In a good location with a little market the day I was there with a few stalls. A nice area to have a walk through.

I'm editing my review to tell things how they actually are. I've put my rating from 4 stars to 3 for 2 reasons, which are listed below.Reason 1: Where did all the people go? Cathedral square was meant to be a central gathering place and tourist attraction that everybody would always come to. It's really sad now, all empty. Absolutely no reason to go to the square. Things may change when the refurbished cathedral opens, but it's truly nothing without all the businesses surrounding it, which goes into my second reason.Reason 2: Where did all the businesses go? There used to be so many reasons to come to the square, like cafes and arcades, and all the other businesses that were surrounding the square. There were so many reasons to go there, and now it's all gone. Sadly, same goes for the rest of the central city. More businesses are needed, otherwise there's not that massive variety of reasons to come anymore. You've may have all these new attractions opening there, for example the Convention center and the library, but it's truly nothing without the massive amount of businesses. I could go deeper, but I'll stop there. But despite all this, there's that 3 star upside to everything, and that's that it is in the process of making some sort of comeback. This is largely due to the restoration of the cathedral happening now, Not to mention a couple attractions have opened on the north side of the square. But as I said, it's nothing without the people and the businesses. I now rate Cathedral Square 3 stars. I'm only 15 years old, so it Really sucks to have not been able to grow up to see a fully functioning central city. It's quite sad in my opinion
