Summerset by the Lake

Mum's 91st birthday and the Taupo Summerset team once again went above and beyond. Thank you for all that you do.

It used to be a great place to live but the last couple of years it gone backwards. Caregivers are great management not. Instead of the bus going shopping twice a week to town it now only goes once because only 3 people were using it o n that day. In my opinion it shouldn’t matter if there was only one. You sign up for knowing what they offer and then find out they just cancel some.occupants of the villa’s used to be included in some care aspects now they say they are independent. Hospital promised then canceled. If you need hospital care you have to move to an other facility and if you have a partner it means you are separated. Blood pressure taken it will cost you $23,50. Absolutely ridiculous in the handbook it says $5.Good caregivers are leaving because of work environment. I had enough and decided to look after my mother myself. The sad thing is I am not the only one. My mother had lived there for 15 years not once her villa had been upgraded and when sick no one from management informed if she was ok. My advice do your homework before you sign up and keep all your paperwork , we did. So sad it used to be great place. This can be all confirmed by the residents who have been there for over 10 years.

Very nice layout, pleasant café and helpful staff. However, it is wrong to mix elderly housing with making a profit on the sharemarket

Great place to retire

My mum moved in to a care suite at Summerset by the Lake, 5 days before lockdown. The team at Taupo went above and beyond to take care of mum and keep us in contact. They made a very stressful time as pleasant as it could be. Thank you all at Taupo Summerset.

Having moved into Summerset in January we have found the Manager and staff to be very caring, friendly and helpful people. The residents have welcomed us and made us feel 'at home' in just a few months. Plenty of events are planned for those that want to attend. Most of all it is the little things we really appreciate - such as the birthday card plus chocolate delivered on my husband's 77th birthday...the various morning/afternoon teas to meet the staff, our new neighbours, etc. We feel we certainly made the right choice to move here..
