Tunnel Beach Walk

The view of this beach is amazing...easy to go there, maybe when you come back there is a little slope. But you can not miss the chance to go there!!!

A beautiful walk on a cold winter day.The walk is not long but it is steep. Allow plenty of time to rest and enjoy the view as you walk back up.Please note:This is NOT a swimming beach. There is a strong undertow, rough stone beach, and heavy surf in good weather.The track is narrow in places and the cliff edge is just beyond the fence so this is not the place to bring your dog.It is a beautiful scenic walk with good photo opportunities.There is currently limited parking at the top of the hill.Toilet facilities are currently being constructed (May 2023) at the top of the hill.Requirements:Good walking shoesA wind-breaker style jacketA bottle of waterYour camera (or phone with a decent camera built in)

Beautiful place to enjoy the sea breeze. Look like the famous Twelve Apostles in Melbourne. Went during sunset and the view was amazing

Stunning views. Not an easy hike. Honestly, the way down is more treacherous on a muddy day but the way up gives you an insane calf workout. For two chubby people on a cool day, it took us about an hour and a half. We didn’t scramble over the rocks on the beach but could have easily spent more time. You’ll be cursing the whole way up if you’re in bad shape, but the views are worth it. They’re in the process of adding in restrooms and more parking but as of early July 23, no bathrooms and limited parking.

Beautiful spot just outside of Dunedin. Free parking and a lovely, albeit a step walk down to an amazing tunnel and stunning beach. Be sure to visit on a low tide or there won’t be much beach.

Not really just a “walk” more of a hike. Really steep but beautiful views.

A beautiful hidden gem!Gravel trail which leads to a beautiful and surreal view of the beach!Best to wear takkies, carry a jacket and a bottle of water as the trail is long, gets windy and is quite a workout.. but absolutely worth every step!
