Otepatotu Scenic Reserve
The Ōtepatotu Track, within the Ōtepatotu Scenic Reserve, is a short hike that has stunning views of the Banks Peninsula.With views of Akaroa Harbor on one side and beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean on the other side.The track has a 'goblin forest' – trees hung with weeping moss.

Otepatotu Scenic Reserve
The “goblin forest” did not disappoint, in my opinion better than the view from the top. I have never seen so much dripping lichen in my life. Could definitely have been a location from Lord of the Rings. The walk itself was easy and very short, with just a mild uphill climb the whole way. Would recommend doing the loop clockwise as the slope is easier that way.

Amazing views! My 11 year old son absolutely loved the walk. Take good shoes as it gets quite slippery in the forest!

Walked less than an hour. Steep hill with solid structure ground. Even little child (5years up) can walk there. Bring a picnic gear with you when it is nice wether.

Otepatotu Scenic Reserve
Beautiful little reserve with a Kiwi Guardians adventure for the kids too.Has a fun wind turbine at the top.The name Otepatotu means something to do with fairies/goblins and this 1hr loop track really feels like a Goblin forest.If you have kids be sure to check out the kiwi Guardians adventures online so the kids can get a medal in the post!

A peaceful and beautiful place to visit if the weather is good. Took about an hour for the boys 6 and 8 to tottle around the loop track.

Very delightfully small forest walk. Can be a bit slippery. Definitely worth checking it out!

Nice walk to both the view point and top of hill.The top of the hill may be too far if you are not fit or can’t cope with steep sections
