The Boat Club
Wow! Fabulous overall experience this past Sunday. My husband and I came up from our yacht anchored in Pt. Fitzroy and we didn't know what to expect as we climbed the wooden staircase up from the road to the Boat Club. What a lovely surprise to find a gleaming wooden dance floor/bar room dining room and out side terrace with a heaven on Earth made in NZ view!I chatted with the beautiful Nordic bar lady about the fabulous art prints in the bathrooms, which led to a discussion of how much I liked the look of the place, and came to find out she was the new owner, Catherine Olsson. We ordered beer and a burger and wine and a spinach and feta cheese pie and salad. Inspired by the jazzy French music playing and the white wine, we helped ourselves to the glossy dance floor and fox trotted about while our food was being cooked by Vicky, who as it turns out is a very good cook! The pie was bursting with a flavorful spinach and cheese filling and the phyllo was crispy, flakey perfection. The freshest assortment of baby greens in my salad was amazing! My husband's burger was grilled to perfection with sauteed onions, served on a yummy bun with crispy French fries. We were sooo happy! We finished it all off with delicious homemade carrot cake and a comforting pot of hot tea.The old time photographs on the walls of schooners and ships and loggers reminded us of coastal Maine in the USA. We have spent the last 16 years sailing about the world, and this place is one of the nicest spots on Earth. We whiled away a few delightful hours as the sun and rain played tag, guys shot darts, families played pool, patrons came and went on boats and bicycles. Enjoy! Gloria and Brad Smith, S/V Kindred Spirit

Like most of the islands residents, staff are very helpful and accomdating to requests. Burger was very good. Chicken salad not so much, chicken was very dry.

we called in for a drink or 3 And discovered we could watch the yacht from the deck. A wonderful view of the bay could be seen. We will definitely call in again next time we are in Port Fitzroy. What a spot!
