McRent Christchurch

We hired a campervan from McRent NZ in the winter school holidays (July 2021) and I cannot fault the campervan or their service.The initial booking was made via email through the Auckland branch and then we collected the campervan from the ladies at the Christchurch branch. We had previously been sent video instructions for how things worked in the campervans that helped to prepare us for our journey and cut the time at pick up down.We travelled in a group of 5 families and had 3 different models of campervans between us all - every model was great.We had free transfers from the airport (and we didn't have to wait) and then we were shown through our campers that were all only about a year old. In the office they had a box of leftovers" (grocery items that others had left behind when returning their campers) that we could pick from - great to grab some dishwashing liquid and salt/pepper etc!The heating system was perfect to keep us cosy throughout our journey despite it being the middle of winter

McRent Christchurch is the best campervan company we've come across. They are incredible hospitable and helpful. They provide all the information you need for your journey and their campervans are the best quality and layouts. We've rented other campervans but the McRent easily had the best storage and layout for our family of four to comfortably ride across New Zealand. In addition the staff was so understanding and relaxed that it made our rental so comfortable.You won't regret renting from McRent Christchurch.

My family & I (family of 13) rented out our McRent motorhomes via Sunrise Holidays in June 2023. On arrival, we were picked up from the airport to McRent Christchurch via shuttle. We had Grace for our pick up & drop off and she was amazing. We rented out 2 4 berths & 1 6 berth motorhomes for 12 days. We truly enjoyed ourselves. One of our motorhomes had a flat battery but NZ Road Recovery came & fixed the problem, within 2 hours we were back on the road. Need not pay as we’ve already took the zero excess insurance. Everything was workable and in new condition. Would recommend McRent Christchurch to our families & friends. And thank you again Grace!

Just returned from a 9 day tour of the South Island in our McRent camper. The service and quality of vehicle provided by McRent was exceptional. Nothing was too much hassle. the vehicle itself was great, modern, easy to use and felt very safe. Well done McRent team we will be back. Just brilliant. Please book with this lovely group. This was our first motorhome holiday and McRent were fantastic from start to finish. They responded to all our novice questions quickly during the booking and pre trip process. Both out of the Auckland and Christchurch offices. It put our minds at ease right away.The pick up was smooth and all the features were clearly explained. This gave us plenty of confidence setting off. More detail was given than the videos (sent out before travelling) with some first hand familiarity giving us the assurance to sit behind the wheel.The motorhome is easy to drive. We had the Family Plus for 2 adults and 2 big kids and this van is sizable. But not once did the size concern me driving in either the countryside or urban environment. Big on the outside means big inside. There is a heap of room. The beds are huge and comfortable. Linen provided kept us plenty warm during the cold September nights. Enough to have the van heater turned way down and that saved gas. There is so much storage. We kept finding more during the trip.The kitchen is well supplied and we didn’t miss out on anything that we wanted to cook. The stove top burners had plenty of space around them to do multiple things at once. The oven came in so handy. The fridge is enormous and kept things very cold. All the cutlery, crockery and glassware you need is there too.The motorhome is very modern, clean and comfortable. Plenty of lighting and shades do a good job. There are plenty of USB ports for charging while driving and camping. Also plenty of mains plugs for when you’re connected. Plus a couple of 12V outlets. Music through Bluetooth connection to the phone makes for good entertainment when camping but when on the road, there’s too much road and van noise to hear properly. Doesn’t matter though as the countryside provides all the joy you need.For those wanting to plan ahead and/or on a budget, the fuel economy was just shy of 14.5 litres per 100km for us. We had to top up the AdBlue once after about 1300km’s then again after another 1100km.I would thoroughly recommend McRent to anyone doing a motorhome trip in NZ. There is not one negative thing I could say about them. This is the best way to see NZ and this company is the best company to do it with.

Small campervan rental company compared to the big names. But we were satisfied with the van. We rented the Family Plus.Would have been perfect if they have provided us with more toilet chemical so we could empty the cassette daily.

Our 12 day motorhome adventure took 4 months of planning, we had never travelled in a motorhome as a family (2 kids under 11). We opted to book via GoSee but ofcourse we had so many questions and reservations. I decided to call Mc Rent directly and from the outset their customer service was the best I've experienced from any rental/travel company. Isabel the manager and her team are so patient, over the 4 month period they were always so kind in responding to our calls and emails. Once in New Zealand, Isabel provided us with a direct WhatsApp number we could communicate with her at anytime. Ofcourse during the 12 days we had questions that she was all to willing to respond too in a prompt manner. The family plus motorhome was a smooth drive, despite the windy roads you always felt safe and secure in the vehicle. The vehicle has all the modern facilities and equipment. This motorhome is so comfortable for a family of 4. I can not thank Isabel and her team enough for making our trip so memorable, seamless and smooth. I will no doubt recommend McRent to all our friends and family in Australia.

We had booked our Luxury Comfort Motor Home with Claudia in Auckland, and picked up at Christchurch Depot. The team is very helpful and considerate, we enjoyed our entire trip especially the kids. Compared with the other Motor Home we hired couple years ago, this is a fancy version of Home Away Home with spacious lounge area, separate toilet and bathroom and also convertible beds...The vehicle was operated by gas without plug in to power site, so we had been been on freedom camp for couple of days and loved it! High recommend this Motor Home if you are looking for a safe way to travel during pandemic. Thank you McRent for the unforgettable memories of our family adventure!

We were so happy with our McRent experience. We hired the family deluxe campervan and was perfect for our family of 6 (not sure if it would suit 6 adults, but 4 kids was fine). We picked up from Christchurch and dropped off at Auckland, all done without a fuss. They had great communication leading up to our trip and answered all my questions and concerns. My daughter's teddy bear accidentally ended up with the linen, and McRent crew very kindly sent the bear back to us in Melbourne. So thoughtful! Would happily rent through rent through then again.
