Very smal walk, but nobody is around so it is nice and quiet

So quiet out here. Nice scenic drive off the state highway at Waiotapu. Beautiful vista of the valley on the way there. The walk to the actual mudpools is very short. Viewing was good. Abit obscured in parts, due to well formed shrubbery, but ok. I can see that there are more geothermal areas here. It would be nice to develop the walkway and viewing platforms further to take in the rest of it. Nice to take in the quietness of a not so busy geothermal spot at holiday time! We were the only ones there, yay!

Geothermal mudflats. This is a neat off the beaten path place only known to the locals....until now. No parking spaces, easy to miss.A free alternative to Wai-o-Tapu. This is a should see if you are in Rotorua. It is a must see if you are nearby....and did I mention it is free?

Small and out of the way, but well worth it as you get to enjoy the scenery and mud pools without another soul in sight.
