Bluewater Sanctuary Affordable Luxury Accommodation & Venue

We LOVED this eco-friendly beautiful space with gorgeous views of the rolling hillsides and nearby Manipouri Bay. Located on the Tutukaka Coast, it was convenient to get to many nearby hikes with breathtaking vistas from this spacious apartment. Organic garden veggies, a hot tub, and beautiful yard await you. The hosts, Julianne and Richard (and Angie, their dog!), were extremely accommodating. We would definitely return and highly recommend this to anyone looking for the perfect relaxing spot!

We had our wedding at the Bluewater Sanctuary in February 2023 and could not have wished for a more fantastic spot to celebrate our special day. The views are priceless, the house is beautifully furnished and decorated and the hosts Jules and Richard are so genuinely lovely and caring. Our guests were very impressed with the venue and we couldn’t recommend it more!

We recently got married at Bluewater Sanctuary in early 2022 and it was amazing!!!After visiting Bluewater Sanctuary, and meeting Jules and Richard, we instantly thought we had a connection and knew it would be an amazing spot to get married. The breathtaking views and awesome functional spaces were perfect.From the outset Jules and Richard were very friendly, immensely helpful and professional. They were always available on the phone and the communication was unmatched. You could tell they wanted us to have a great day and that it was all about our experience at their amazing location.Jules and Richard were upfront, honest and had a lot of great ideas for our day. They made Tui cottage available for us for the weekend and also facilitated the drop off of wedding supplies and assets through the lead up to the wedding. This ensured a stress free lead up to the wedding, knowing everything was up at Bluewater Sanctuary ready and waiting for us to set up prior to the wedding.The Sanctuary looked amazing on the day. It didn't help that there was a potential cyclone that weekend which hit a day earlier but the grounds looked immaculate. Jules and Richard provided support to quickly change plans for an 'indoors wedding. This went seamlessly. The venue worked perfectly indoors and outdoors

A stunning home in a beautiful, quiet location, with panoramic views down to the ocean. This is one of the most beautiful lodgings we have ever stayed in. Thank you Richard and Jules. We had a wonderful time here.

Very highly recommended, everything is just right here:The Bluewater Sanctuary is a tranquil spot with astonishing 360-views from the hilltop. You can even see the Matapouri beach in the distance. At night, after enjoying an evening meal at the beautiful fire place, you can lay on the sun loungers for some stargazing as there’s next to no external lights disturbing the view. There’s also a very comfortable cedar wood hot tub available for use. This is a perfect spot for discovering the beautiful and uncrowded beaches nearby or e.g. diving at the Poor Knights Islands.The house is impeccably clean, modern but cozy, well-equipped, extremely spacious with huge windows to let in the views. Everything is high quality.The hosts are superhumanly nice, friendly and accommodating. It felt like leaving behind old friends after a short stay.The continental breakfast prepared by Jules was excellent, with a variety of options even up to home-baked gluten free bread.We loved this place. I can’t speak highly enough of the four days I spent with Jules at the ‘Radical Hope’ retreat. Jukes deep level of care and kindness was evident even before we meet in person during several phone calls before hand as she patiently answered my questions and concerns.Even lovelier in person Jules ran a very thoughtful four days where each of the participants were nurtured, nourished and held in a very safe space. She was assisted by Courtenay who was lovely and informative and added to the experience.I came away from the retreat renewed, hopeful and with many ‘tools’ to implement at home.I should mention the location itself is magical. Thanks Jules and Courtenay .

Highly recommended for a weekend getaway for small families. The house is situated on a hillside with views of the sea and surrounding farms. We were lucky enough to see little blue penguins on the reef by the beach.The rooms are spacious and have everything you need. The owners were very nice and happy to answer questions. We would definitely come back again.

We stayed at this fantastic property with two other families. The views were absolutely breathtaking. The house is very spacious and easily accommodated three families. We enjoyed eating together outside on the long table, playing games on the grass and watching the sunset. The kitchen was well equipped and the house had many comfortable spaces to relax. The hot tub was also appreciated and the beautiful Matapouri Beach and Whale Bay were a short drive away. Julianne and Richard were very friendly, welcoming and responsive hosts. We made some amazing memories during our stay - 100% recommend and hope to return to enjoy those stunning views.
