Worst hostel ever, this place should be closed for multiple reasons. De bathrooms and dorms are disgusting. Mildew in the bathrooms, carpet is never been cleaned, and i have a rash from what i would guess bedbugs.

Absolute dive of a place. Rooms too hot, carpets in desperate need of replacement, beds are comfortable, however expect to come back and find that the staff have moved your belongings and given someone else your bed! You’ll need hiking equipment to reach the showers from the ground floor. Constant smell around the place, bodies lying in corridors on a morning. Would not recommend.

No words to describe the staff, absolute stars for the hospitality! Front desk + manager are good people.Room wise, it is as much as a backpackers can get. Might need some sun during the day to ventilate which was lacking. Might need a more thorough clean-out. Carpets can do with a good one time cleaning too.But for the cheapest bed in town, you cannot complain can you? Tbh, you just gotta pay more to stay at the next closest hostel for a cleaner" experience.Kitchen's pretty busy at times. Crowded fridge

I’ve been travelling for 5 years now and this is in the top 3 worse hostels I’ve ever stayed in. Half the people there seemed to permanently live there and half backpackers. Draws in a sketchy crowd as well. Roomed reeked of smelly shoes and always had this pungent smell. No A/C so room was boiling hot with that smell. Mold everywhere especially the bathrooms which were also always flooded. Kitchen was gross cooked there for one night and couldn’t stand it anymore. Run.

The backpackers location is great, in the center of Auckland. No doubts, the best thing about the place is how nice and helpful the staff is (Mona, Alejandro, Luis, etc.) and the community that is created among travelers. I have felt comfortable and I have had an awesome time with them. I will repeat for sure

This hostel was a standard hostel. Very noisy and busy but relatively clean. The staff were really friendly and sorted out a mix up with the rooms really quickly. I probably wouldn't stay here again but for 1 night, it was fine and has everything you need

If you ask the staff friendly you can do laundry for free!Kitchen isn't the largest one I saw in a Hostel but it was clean and there was enough space to cook when it wasn't busyprice performance was good for me

The smallest room I've ever been. 6 Beds and no place to stand. There wasn't even enough space to climb up the bed without bumping into something.Everything is broken and dirty. I wouldn't recommend to come here. Even if the location is pretty good.You can get a AT HOP card for 5$ on the train stations or the ferry terminal, so buy it. Top up 10$ and enjoy the ride from a hostel miles away from the city if you can.The city is noisy and the hostel is on the side of Hobson St. (next to the Fire Fighters an the Ambulances). Further there were no curtains in my room so the streetlights lighten up the room all night. It's not worthy.

I would have given a zero star if possible. Worst service , dirty bedsheets , worst toilets , bathrooms , no toilet papers in toilets , no handwash. Room and hallways was stinking as hell. Bedsheet and comforter dirty , looked like never washed. No ventilation in dark rooms. Booked online , they charged me twice once they ask me to pay on counter and then also charged my credit card which I used for booking without even asking me. Have to ask 3 times alteast to get my refund of extra money deducted. Rude staff , stinky place.Would not recommend at all.

Do not book here! The website is very misleading. We booked a private room for 6x people. We got there and they had split us all up through 3 different rooms. None of the toilets lock with no toilet paper available (even when asked). The rooms were messy (stains top to bottom, rubbish and dirty clothes were left behind by past backpackers) There are also NO WINDOWS in the toilets and bedrooms. Horrible experience, felt like I was in the backrooms
