Speights Ale House
We waited half an hour to be servedby staff who were not accommodating at all. We then waited 1 hour for our food to arrive at our table. I ordered the stockmans steak at $36.60 and an hour wait I didn't expect to have a long strand of black hair in the middle of my meal.Due to already feeling uncomfortable by the service given and being hungry at this point I just pulled the strand of hair out and ate my meal.There are better places in Palmerston North to dine at.

… we won’t be back and will recommend people go somewhere else.Came for Mother’s Day. Booked in at 11:30. Arrived a few minutes early to be seated. Ordering went fine. At about 12:30, while we were chatting and still waiting for our food the waiter came and loudly told us we would need to be out before 1pm as there was another booking after us. “We’re just waiting for our meals” I replied in shock. I now felt like I was trespassing.Who on Earth trained this waiter to push customers through like this? Is management so incompetent that the staff think this is ok?I would have walked out and just paid for the drinks we had already finished but it was Mother’s Day and not a day for being angry.Due to the pressure of getting out we did not order any further drinks or dessert. I also did not really enjoy my meal as I was no longer in such a good mood. Instead we went and had coffee and cake at a little cafe in town.So, we won’t be back and will recommend people go somewhere else.

I would be very very careful dining in this establishment. They have different price in their system and don't necessarily update the menu. I was told because the price has been put up, I had to pay at that price despite the lower price on the menu. Service is mediocre at best. You have a couple of amazing server but the rest really need to be retrained. I put feedback to the store and never heard back so they obviously don't care either.

The fresh bread was yum, but the butter had no garlic in it and tasted stale. Steak had been stewing so was tough and it was waiting for my meal which was running late. My Cherry Chicken was nice. Service was not very impressive. Ashame as had some yummy meals there and had excellent service.

Wonderful night out with so many options for food and drink. Great atmosphere and service. Garlic bread is always spot on - our table specifically enjoyed the perfectly cooked steak, blue and gold fish and the crunchy Castle St Chicken burger. Filling and delicious.

Had lunch at the Speights Ale House, The service was great, the staff were very welcoming and had a smile on their face. The atmosphere was good, great music, very spacious with lots of tables/Seats available.The food was nice, Steak was a little chewy and the green Veges were hard but other than that it was good. The Caesar side salad was yum too!

We booked a small gathering in the bar. They cannot reserve tables for you in this area, however we made sure we turned up early to secure these. We re-ordered some of their platters and they were amazing! The service from the staff was really friendly and they would come around the tables and ask people if they wanted more drinks. We will definitely come back for any future functions.

We came in late 2 minutes before the kitchen but they were still able to service wonderful hearty meals with generous portion. The customer service was top notch! Well done to the ladies at the bar. The pub was clean, spacious and original.

Speights Ale House
We were booked in and seated early upstairs. The meal itself was delicious, we had Ale House Bread to start with garlic butter. It was fresh and beautiful tasting bread, for our main we had the rump steak. Although slightly tough, it was still really tasty and cooked to perfection. Mushroom sauce was very tasty. Overall very nice.
