Amazing experience with Wellington Ocean Sport, I cannot recommend these guys highly enough. I recently attended their awesome Learn to Sail course as a complete novice and came away with a firm grasp of all the fundamentals. The course was well run - very professional but also friendly and jovial (we had two immense instructors in Jim and Graham). Wellington Ocean Sports is the place to learn how to sail in Wellington, the place to get involved in regular sailing and the place to keep-up-to-date with your future sailing education, whichever way you are heading, racing or cruising. The courses are very hands-on and just the right mix between classroom and practical learning. The teaching style is laid back, fun and accessible for any person with or without sailing experience. I can only recommend Jim and James to anyone wanting to sail in Wellington. You get 50% discount on the RPNYC (Port Nick Yacht Club) first year fee which gives you access to regular weekly sailing with the great bunch of sailors this club is made of. Great team at Wellington Ocean Sports. My partner and I attended the Level 1 course over a couple of weekends. Good mix of theory and sailing with most of the time spent on the water. The instructors are patient, knowledgeable and approachable. Even when the wind gusted to 25-40 knots it felt safe and fun to be on the water. This was a fantastic experience and I can't wait to sail again.

Did the intro to sailing course and it was awesome! You get heaps of hands on time on the boats mixed with a bit of classroom learning to balance it out. Instructors were great as well, and it was good experience sailing with different instructors and crews. Would recommend

Had a great time learning to sail at this place. The classes went as scheduled without any being postponed due to weather conditions and always felt very safe. Great atmosphere, good time on water/ theory balance and good start into the long term sailing adventure.

I did the Learn to Sail course this week. This is a great course if you want to .. learn to sail. The instructors are top-notch (and patient at the same time). Learn from the pros and enrol. Before you set off, buy sunglasses and a string that ties your hat or cap to your main gear.

Incredible experience! I learned a lot from the instructors from theory to sailing techniques. Wellington Ocean Sports really encourages you to continue sailing after the intro course and make it easy to get involved with the Yacht club. Great company and program.

Took the level 1 Learn-To-Sail course. Graeme was a great teacher, had a perfect balance of class time and on-the-water time. Already booked my subsequent course before this one finished!! Highly recommend.

Just completed the beginners keel boat sailing course and had an excellent experience and great time. These guys are great sailors and teachers. The boats are perfect for learning in.Highly recommend them for sailing courses.

An excellent introduction to the seemingly daunting world of sailing.This course doesn't leave you stuck in the classroom all day, watching videos and looking at slideshows! The vast majority of the course is spent out on Wellington Harbour, learning through hands-on interaction with the boats.Yes, it can be a little bit full-on at times and some parts of my body hurt that I didn't know existed, but ultimately it is a rewarding and unique opportunity to gain essential skills in a fascinating sport and leisure activity.
