Orepuki Horse Treks

I've been here twice - 2019 and again in 2023. I used to ride as a kid, and I've done numerous horse treks in multiple locations, and this is THE ONE I have the fondest memories of.Elfi has curated beautiful treks, she's professional and I enjoyed talking with her. I can tell the well-being of the horses matters a lot her, and in turn, the horses noticeably enjoy what they're doing. Follow Elfi's instructions on how to ride them. I had a really nice ride with Elfi! It felt wonderful to ride around the farm and on the cliff and the horses were very nice and easy going if you have a little bit of riding experience! I had a very good time talking with Elfi and we were accompanied by two of her really cute dogs for the whole time ☺️ the ride was also very diverse, you had a bit of everything which was so much fun, I can highly recommend it and hope to come back at some point!

My trekking experience with Elfi was fabulous - and so unique! Firstly, every one of Elfi's beautiful Arab horses is so well-cared for, healthy and well schooled, making riding a joy. For any experienced rider (even if rusty, as I was) you have the joy of a forward-moving, responsive horse who is enjoying the ride as much as you are. Our beach ride was spectacular, and the horses are confident in the surf, and comfortable at every pace from trot to in-hand canter. The gear is top class and I was so grateful Elfi could offer a range of boots, chaps and helmet as I didn't have everything travelling with me. And Elfi herself is a delight, taking so much pleasure in sharing her love of Arab horses and her home. I will definitely return and highly recommend this to any rider looking for a different trekking experience.

What an exceptional ride we had with Elfi while on vacation in New Zealand! As an experienced rider, I loved riding Ricky who was energetic and very responsive. Even at an exhilarating gallop I always felt in control. My husband, who is a confident rider but doesn’t ride regularly, was on a horse that was perfect for him too. We rode up in the hills past grassy pastures of sheep and through fields with cows. The views of the ocean and mountains in the distance were incredible. It was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend going for a ride with Elfi at Orepuki Stables!

Had an AMAZING time on a one on one horse trek with Elfi. Her very sweet sheep herding dog Sue came along for the whole trip too which I thought was a added bonus as a dog lover. Absolutely exceeded my expectations, we walked though all the paddocks of her beautiful massive farm, past hundreds of sheep, curious cows, through a beautiful creek, and along the cliffs where you can see the stunning beaches of monkey island below. We also took the horses for a little run up a hill which I was a little nervous about but Elfi is a great teacher and my horse Ricky was an absolute breeze to ride. Elfi is very easy to chat to and really made it feel as though I was on a walk with a friend, and was kind enough to take loads of photos without me even asking.So much fun! Cannot recommend enough, i'd love to book again next time I'm in Nz visiting family. Thanks again!

If you are looking for a amazing horse riding experience, this is it. Elfi was wonderful right from word go. I had my 5 year old daughter who was thrilled to be able to have her first ride on a big horse, Ricky. Elfi was more than happy to walk her around and around and around, chatting the whole time. My daughter just loved it. Next was my turn, because it was just the 2 of us I felt I got it all. Not just the horse trek but great advice ( felt like a private lesson and learnt something to help me in my future rides) amazing views and Orepuki even put on great weather. Was just wonderful. Next time I am booking in advance to make sure I don't miss out on the beach ride. The tide needs to be low. We just did their farm, which is still beautiful.I highly recommend Orepuki Horse Trek, Elfi and her beautiful horses. One of the best rides I've had.
