Valdez Motor Lodge

Owner was very nice. Room was tidy. Everything is just outdated including a boxed tv upstairs which we could hardly see from the bed. Our room had a very strong smell of food which just hung around for the night eventhough we tried to air the unit out. Photos of the pool are quite deceiving. Cot mattresses had some tears, and the cot was an extra $30, so $320 for one night. Expected more. Won’t be back again. Upstairs window needs a good clean

Heap's of parking space and the rooms are spacious and the bathroom is ? Wow got a spa bath....very nice after the long day. Relaxation time.Alot of rooms and has its own courtyard.Takeaway and cafes all around.Great for families, has room for the kids. Kid friendly.It's a lovely place and quite too!

First motel I have stayed in where one had to make own beds. Price wasn't 99.oo a night place plus had to clean own dishes up before departure. Outside furniture needs a good clean or replaced. Outside ashtray hadn't been cleaned out in ages. Beds very comfortable, staff needs to check light bulbs light over sink wasn't working. First motel that had no soap in shower thank goodness I brought my dove

Really awful experience recently staying at Valdez Motor Lodge, we stayed for two night, on a two level unit, I slept downstairs, my wife and kids stayed upstairs.First night was ok;Strange things happened on the second night, first, around 1:00 am somebody knocking on the door, because it’s a unfamiliar place to me, I felt a bit scared, I kept quiet and didn’t reply, then I tiptoed to the door and looked through the peephole, nobody was there, I saw my car’s hazard lights was flashing (someone may tried to open the doors), I went to find the car key and locked the car again to stop the flashing lights; I went back try to sleep, I was a bit frightened by the knocking, tossed and turned quite a while, couldn’t sleep :(I was almost falling into asleep, when I heard the the door was opening, I shouted out: ‘who’s that?’ A lady voice said ‘sorry’, and I could hear someone running away, I went to the door, the door was opened, luckily we had the chain locker locked from inside, at the same time my wife and older kid was waking up by my yelling voice, and want downstairs asking what happened, we then tuned all the lights on, and went to the upstairs balcony to see if anyone outside, couldn’t see anyone outside, I looked the time again it was almost 3:00 am;It was a horrible nightmare!!!We will never go back again!!!

Great place for a cheap but cheerful stopover on our way to Wairarapa in late Jan. Decor was a bit dated, but it was clean, the beds were comfortable enough, and it was quiet. Would have appreciated a TV that would tune to any channel though without ghosting. That definitely needs upgrading. Would stay again

Such a well located motel and the unit was lovely. Good sized two bedroom and heat pump was great.

This was the fabulous place to stay. We stayed there during the cyclone and felt very safe. The management is the most amazing. She was just so thoughtful and kind to us. The owners need to be so greatful to have a managers like her.
