Freedive New Zealand - Spearfishing Charters

Heading out with the crew abord Ikigai to the Alderman islands was such an amazing experience.We were greeted by great vis and warm water with lots of fish, it was absolutely breathtaking!The knowledge Dave and Etoile passed on about the different dive sites topography, currents and species to be expected made it easy to relax and concentrate on the diving.I can't recommend booking a trip highly enough!I will be back many, many times in the future!!

Had an absolute blast with the team! Went over to Little Barrier in some pretty heavy weather but never felt unsafe with the boat or driver! Once we got there we had a great time, so easy being dropped and picked up and dropped again. Would highly recommend to anyone but especially those who want to get their first kingfish or someone who hasn’t been out to 10/10 dive spots! Can’t wait for the next trip!

Had an amazing day out with the Freedive Nz crew! I got on touch with David and even though I was a solo diver he slotted me in with a group on the day that suited me. We launched from Tairua to head out to the Aldermans. Four of us on the boat were diving plus David and ET, and their new rig made light work of the trip out to the Aldermans. We spent the entire day exploring the Aldies; David would run over the terrain, fish and tactics for each spot before dropping us where we needed to be. Him and ET stayed in the boat during the dives so we were able to drop our fish back to them, except when ET jumped in to get snaps of our Kingfish.The diving was incredible and we were very well looked after all day. Whether you're a seasoned spearo looking to get offshore or just starting out, these charters are so worth it!

I helped Niwa catch some snapper for a study in coromandel. While the boat is not set up specifically for fishing they had, a sea anchor, mussel hook and really knew what they were doing. The customer service was next level. Dave made us wild sheep tacos, later he fried up a gurnard for the team. We achieved our mission and had a great day on the water. A highly reccomend this boat.

One of the best freediving/spearing experiences ever. David is an amazing captain who is patient and knowledgeable about the area. Started at Tairua and went to Alderman’s. Vis was out of this world 15-20m despite having swell of 1.5m. Would recommend this to anyone from seasoned spearo to confident spearo. Will be going again next summer for sure!

I did a spearfishing charter with Dave and it was one of the best I've ever done! He's a great guy and a fantastic guide, and put me on some of the best fish I've shot to date! He's also an incredibly knowledgable and very able freediver, so if you're looking to improve your diving, one of their freediving courses is a great idea.

Freedive New Zealand run an amazing charter that can be tailored to your diving experience, ET and Davie's knowledge and professionalism is amazing and they real make you feel at home onboard Ikigai. I can't recommend them highly enough. Looking forward to heading out again for some more epic adventures

Been out on a few top water sessions with David, every adventure has been nothing but epic. Super chilled but super professional captain, always a great time out with him. Highly recommend getting out there with him and the Freedive New Zealand crew. #dullawhatyoumust

Best fishing trip I have been on .If you wanna have a day out on the water with your mates either catching or shooting fish this is the trip to go on. The yarns from Dave and Etoile alone make the trip worth while.Can't wait for the next trip!!

Think I’ve been out with David and co three times now, always such a good time. Coromandel spearing at the aldermans has been the best I’ve ever had both vis/fish life wise. David knows all the spots and is happy to share and teach from his breadth of experience. I would highly recommend to spearos a with experience and to those just starting out and everyone inbetween. Great way to meet like minded divers also.
