Absolutely no respect for the people who reside in the area!!!!! Disgusting. Allow people to litter, constantly barking dogs. Pull your head’s in and have respect for people who help fund what you do!!!!!!!!

Dude to the price of food at the moment, I can’t afford the essentials. So my husband offered to go to a food bank, however it’s embarrassing how much he came home with. No milk, bread and hardly any meat. Two large bags of fruit (that are all ready to go) one bag of sweets and cereal. Only two cans. It’s quite disappointing. Unfortunately I’m not a magician with food, I don’t know what I’ll be cooking with all of this.

I have accessed the food bank a few times as I have had lots of bills and no money. The staff are always kind and offer support. The cost of living in NZ is crazy high thanks to God for the mission to help everyone.

I cannot adequately express the gratitude and admiration I feel for Christchurch City Mission, especially the men's shelter. This is an institution that truly puts its heart into service, making a significant difference to some of the most vulnerable members of our society. The shelter is so much more than a roof over one's head - it is a sanctuary where dignity, compassion, and genuine care are in abundant supply.Special recognition must be given to the tireless and dedicated staff members, who treat every individual who walks through the door with respect and kindness.Steve, Robbie, Harriot, Thomas, Pete, and Brian - your hard work, dedication, and compassion are nothing short of inspiring. The way you navigate challenges and extend your kindness towards every individual is truly admirable.Your contributions are not only changing lives but also shaping a more compassionate and understanding community around you. We are all better for having you in our corner.Thank you for your tireless efforts and for being a beacon of hope and kindness in our city. Your dedication truly makes a difference and is a testament to the transformative power of love, empathy, and respect.Peace and good vibes,Levi (Phoenix) Burton,Intended Candidate for Mayor, Grey District Council

Not a fan of it's rehab programme at Thorp House. There was a party next door when I was in there, deep heavy bass, we got no sleep, people from next door jumped over the fence and back out, while drunk. The music went all night and day, we complained to staff, but nothing happened. We still had to attend a meeting, but I had enough, so I left.

Lovely staff who are always so helpful. This place isn't just for people in need, But it's also a great place for people who like to save a few dollars or for people who think of our planet first & purchase items secondhand....Reduce, RE-USE" & recycle."

Interacted with such a hostile, rude and impatient person when trying to get a food parcel for someone. Their process is so difficult and I've been told so many different things by different people. If someone wants a food parcel they need to pick it up themselves or you need to get written permission and a call to them to pick it up on behalf which is wild if people don't have access to transport. I don't understand how and why it's so difficult to pick up food for someone let alone why its okay to be so awful when trying to access food for someone. If this whole process was confusing and intimidating for me I can't imagine how it would be for people with learning or intellectual disabilitiesI'd suggest going to a local food bank and not this one because there is no sensitivity and care, I've found.
