Had a great Lunch on Friday last, Steve and me had 300 g Steak, 2 eggs, chips and salad washed down with a couple of beers. Jane was sober driver had Fish and chips...lucky we did beat the rush.

Was there over Queens birthday weekend monday had a beer with the owners of 2 years. Great destination pub like Okoroire or Whangamomina for motorbikes or car clubs. Great roads in both directions. A bit bumpy south for 18km. But all sealed throught to Masterton without going on the main road.

This place definitely has a great vibe!While doing road trip around North Island we stopped by the tavern and asked is any accommodation was available. Ended up staying overnight in a private cabin at the backyard.Had steak (didn’t take photos) and fish n chips (photo attached) for dinner and it was just yummy, had a few beers and lovely chat with locals. Got some recommendations on places to visit around. Also played pool on a round table-so much fun.At the end of my review just want to say thank you to the owners (very friendly and great people) for your hospitality, it was great staying at the tavern! If we are ever around will definitely stay again!

Excellent meals! Generous portions and cooked to perfection! Welcoming and friendly hosts!A game of pool on the famous round table is an experience not to be missed!

Odette and Susan, you are two very lovely lady's!! Thank you so much for your hospitality. As a cold, hungry traveler, there is nothing better than being plucked off the street and shown good food, beer, company and music. Wimbledon Tavern is a must for those seeking an authentic kiwi experience.By the way I kayaked to Auckland, ran out of money and went back to work as a guide. I'll finish the trip to Cape reianga, and am scheming up plans for other trips. One day I'll write a book, and there will be a Wimbledon Tavern chapter.Thank you so much,Callum

Friendly and welcoming hosts. Highly recommend the fish and chips. Amazingly well presented original NZ Tavern. Love the round pool table.
