The $40 soup was extremely disappointing and definitely not worth it. The portion size was barely enough for one person. Moreover, the fish and chips were overly greasy, and the chips were disappointingly soft.

Please note - there is a difference between the takeaways side and the dining area side. Not allowed to mix orders.I was a bit underwhelmed with the food on the dining area side. Who deep fries a pattie in a burger? Thats a first for me. $16 combo that includes a can, burger and a bit of dry chips. The pork belly was re heated & still cold on a bed of rice and a bit of slaw $18.Spent $90 something dollars in total…Service was probably the best part. Hearing an asian speak Te Reo is music to my ears, 2 big ticks there. Greeted with Kia Ora and asked twice how our kai was…if there is kai still left on the plate, it means we werent satisfied. Sorry…..Kia kaha tonu e hoa

Must be New Zealand's well hidden secret restaurants serving southern and northern Chinese dishes. Amazing food, definitely worth a try. Limited seating, first in first served.Ask for the secret menu!

Fish and chips was alright but their scotch burger was yuck as I found a hair while I was eating my burger. HYGIENE ISSUEMy takeaway order was ready sitting on the counter and the guy behind the counter looked at it and walked off and serviced other customers before giving us our order.

Who would have thought you would be able to get decent Chinese food at a fish & chips shop?!The dishes were really tasty and above average. My favourite was the blue cod - cooked just right and it wasn’t rough at all. Fish and chips was tasty too, the owner said they used rice bran oil which does add a different taste into them.Unlike other reviews, service was friendly and we didn’t have to wait long for our dishes to come.

The restaurant layout is interesting, except the lighting is a bit dim. The flavors are all good, and the heat of the fried food is well mastered. Especially the very good fish and chips, as well as a variety of other seafood, very suitable for children to have dinner here. We especially recommend seafood fried noodles, which can be said to be the best seafood fried noodles in New Zealand. The noodles are rich in flavor and the seafood is tender and juicy.

No wonder it’s the best in New Zealand! It definitely earns its name! The staff are really friendly. The food is amazing! Especially the Tarakihi fish. It’s a local fish and it’s super fresh! The potato wedges were out of the world!

Foods are ok, but hygiene is a huge issue. Not only found human hair in our soup, but also many egg shells in our fried rice, picture below shows two chunky pieces that clearly indicates the problem . Did not ask for the refund because we are trying to support local business, I have informed issue to the owner when we finished the dining. Hope they can improve this situation.

Oppies Fish & Chips And Chinese Takeaway
During my family's 3 days stay in Rotorua, we went there to eat twice. Oppies was featured in a Taiwanese travel programme, and has gained many followers since. The Chinese menu is great, and even the fish and chips (especially the fish) is awesome!
