Quite an average pie. Tried the steak and cheese and vegetarian. Not much filling and pastry wasn’t very flakey. There are better pies in Wanaka (Albert town).Kai Pai does have a nice setting outside with a grassy area and nice seating. Good service and has a selection of other foods if you’re after a quick feed.

Yea pies were OK. Wouldn't say its the best I've had. Had the chicken and a sausage roll.Pastry wasn't flaky flaky and the chicken filling is more starch like (I. E flour and water) than cream based.Best pie I've had so far is from buzz stop in Queenstown.Definitely still should try and make your own judgment, but wouldn't know why someone would be giving out awards and such for it.

I got some chicken bites that weren't very fresh (never complained) and the kind lady who served me gave me a fresh batch for free as she must have heard that the ones I got weren't the best... Great service

Excellent pies. Great flaky pastry, tasty saucy filling, the right temperature and easily eaten by hand. We had one each and then split another one. Had the goat peri peri (not spicy), chicken leek and bacon, and lamb and mint.
