China Grill

Three tables in the whole restaurant and they forgot a table's order until patron complained after 40 mins. Patron was offered a free glass of wine (which was sent back as it came from the dregs of an old bottle). All this witnessed while I waited for takeaway wontons and squid. Genuinely inedible, and I'm not a fussy eater. The wonton wrappers were full of oil, no crunch. The battered squid was sooo soggy, and both orders were cooked in oil that hadn't been changed in days, as they were undercooked yet covered in dirty pieces of burnt food from other dishes. Ate one piece. I hate to leave a bad review as it can be devastating, but in this case I have to!

We have the chicken satay and chicken veggies, both dishes were good. Service was on point. No complaints here.

Reasonable authentic I suppose for Wanaka. My hot and sour soup was hot but didn’t include any meat. It was heavy with mushrooms. The garlic beef was good - but a bit too much cauliflower. Minor inconvenience - if u pay with credit card, u have to walk to the bar. The machine is not portable. While it’s a A- in NZ, it would be a C+ in many Chinatown.

We had oyster sauce beef, egg fried rice, sweet and sour pork, and chicken chow mein, with entree of fried dumplings and wontons and all the food was great! Fast service, friendly waiter, we ended up chatting for ages, and had leftovers to take home too! Great value and meals!

The most flavourless Chinese food I’ve ever had. Dry, yet watery and bland. Such a disservice to authentic and even westernised Chinese cuisine. They destroyed one of my favourite dishes (cumin lamb) which comes out battered and dusty, and the sweet and sour pork is something I thought could never fail. Wontons have hardly anything in them.Do yourself a favour and check out Gusto instead

Had a nice dinner here. Nothing very flash but good taste and portioning. Chicken and sweetcorn soup was very nice and real cheap $3 enough for one. Drinks were affordable too.

Excellent. We are from Hong Kong. Very delicious. Comfortable and reasonable price. The taste of salty is perfect. Never be too salty. Great.

Wouldn't recommend... Stirfry was soup.. Only 1 tea cup??? Had to use a water glass! Glasses were dirty, my husbands wonton soup had a wonton with 4 wrappers! The white rice for our beef and chili came 15 minutes after we were served. The soups actually came AFTER our main DISH... reason? Because they would take a long time.... We were the only ones in the restaurant at the time ( a group of 5).Server was doing the best with what she had...
