If you're getting painting work done by this company make sure you get a quote. I was told a written quote would be more expensive and that I should just get the paint job done paying the hourly rate. The rates etc were made clear to me so I have no issue with that. I was nervous about not having a written quote but was assured that if I wanted to save money I should go with the hourly rate. I had a kitchen, laundry and toilet area painted. I was told by the contractor doing the quote that rooms are about $1000 each to paint. Even though the toilet area was tiny I imagined that I would have a $3000 bill at the most. The bill was just over $5000! I queried it and was told that some things had taken longer than expected. I wish I'd had a quote because I would not have spent that much to get such a small area of the house painted. My one positive is that the quality of the painting was very good.

I should have read the reviews. Stephen Goldsmith nailed his review: The CEO is rude, abusive, condescending, and they are overpriced.Over the past few months, I spent almost $13,000 on different jobs and paid every single invoice on time, even the last one, although I thought I had been overcharged. My understanding had been that I was paying contractors for the time spent on the job plus material plus vehicle surcharge, when Juan Gaspar, CEO of DCC, made me rudely aware that they charge the same hourly rate for contractors driving around. Rather than logically explaining to me where the misunderstanding was and maybe - God forbid - saying something like, sorry for the miscommunication, we always charge for the entire time our contractors are out, Juan Gaspar actually wrote: You have used us before and know exactly how our charges work. You can either pay account or dispute it by filing a claim at the disputes tribunal

Highly recommend this company. They did both building and electrical work for us. They arrived on time, cleaned up before they left and were very friendly and helpful. Came up with some great ideas when the project wasn't going to our plans and we can't thank them enough for that.

Terribly over priced for work done and of the end result. Not even close to professional when questioned invoice, just rude, abusive and condescending.Wouldn't use again or recommend.Unless of course you have more money than sense.

I would definitely recommend using Dunedin City Contracting.We employed them about 12 months or so ago to build a deck and from the first meeting to qoute on the job Juan was extremely professional and clearly knew what he was taking about and advice given so we decided to go ahead with them and the deck was completed perfectly and is like new still .Then just a few weeks our second job we wanted done was a front entrance gate and fence so got Juan out to give advise plus to qoute which in turn went ahead with them again as having used there services before knew they could be trusted to do the job to our satisfaction.Grant one of the team who is in our mind a profectinest did an absolutely superb job fitting the gate & building the fence we just were amazed at how professional Dunedin City Contracting is and would have no hesitation using there services again and would as mentioned above anyone looking for a job well done definitely recommend contacting them .

Juan and his wonderful team at Dunedin City Contracting completed a wide array of remedial jobs at our rental property. Under a tight timeframe, work was completed on time, and to a high standard. They have the answer for everything - highly recommended.

Shocking company to deal with -- STAY WELL AWAY unless you have deep pockets + enjoy being ripped off. Steep hourly rate with LOTS of additional hidden costs. Got charged close to $300 -- in addition to original $750 quote -- for having a basic toe board replaced, which got broken in the process of installing new floor. Was told toe board was going to be a little bit extra" -- not an additional 40%. They also arrived late both for the quote and the work. On the plus side: they had immediate capacity for the job when everyone else in town was booked out for months. I understand why now. Don't use unless you're desperate."

We just had a ducted heat pump installed and not even 24 hours later I can tell the difference. Mike was amazing and so professional. Couldn't recommend enough A+++
