Beautifully natural. Fresh tainted water. Fresh venison and pork right out the back door. Private swimming area. Sound of native birds throughout the day and the rural at night. Very peaceful.

Loved the walk but the huts weren't maintained very well

The park is amazingly beautiful, but keep in mind that the access is horrible. Gravel and narrow road, we have a flat tyre in our car after visiting. But it was worth it. Maybe it's better to sleep in the camping ground, due to the hard access.

There once was a positive review here informing people of the natural beauty of this land. But after years of mismanagement and failure to maintain tracks and huts, it is difficult to recommend this destination. Now with the news on removing huts, which are either being completely removed or getting 'bespoke' replacements that will probably cost significantly more to use, I am very concerned for the future of this area. Until the park is properly managed and the huts I grew up with are not threatened with removal, my review will remain at 1 star.

Don’t know why this is still classified as a Great Walk. Deterioration is evident, disappointing experience, felt unsafe. Would recommend all the other Great Walks but not this one.

Huge area with loads to do. Can be rugged and remote. Be sure to get accurate, up to date information before you set off and go prepared.A beautiful part of the country.
