Matapouri Bay Store
Since it was a beautiful northland day 15th March 2022. Thought we'd take a drive to the beach. We originally stopped at the Tutukaka Marina and dunked our feet into the warm water but we decided to carry onto Matapouri Bay and stopped at Matapouri Store for some Fish and Chips" for lunch. We ended up getting Chicken

We came just before Christmas , it was busy but very friendly staff. The fish and chips were excellent, choose the snapper and you can’t go wrong. A global standard of fish and chips here at this cute little store! We took ours to the nearby beach and had a wonderful afternoon. Thanks everyone at Matapouri Bag store for making our holiday better!!

The best Fish burger I have ever had. This little general store and takeaway shows that the big burger chains products leave a lot to be desired. The Matapouri Bay Store burger was simply the best!

Awesome ice cream stop (general store), haven’t tried the fish & chips. Awesome friendly young lady staffer doing the ice creams was all good. Cool tables outside but pretty close to the road, lots of goons showing off to the cows & sheep cause there ain’t much else up here to try to look cool in front of! Mind the tamariki, Awesome little store 3rd time here this year, happy.Easy parking, accessible, main road can’t miss it.

They do take away food from 11am-7pm & the main store is open from 7am-7pm. Lovely shop with good food, friendly staff & groceries you need when camping .

Was so looking forward to fresh fish and chips. There wasn’t much choice of fish on offer, as they were flat out (Christmas period). The staff were pleasant, but the fish, oysters, and scallops were heavily battered and dripping in oil. So much so that my sister’s top is probably stained for good (the oil oozed out of the parcel of food before we could walk the 200 (?) metres back to the beach. Haven’t had kiwi fish and chips for a long, long time, and now feel a bit ill from the grease. Disappointed.

Great service - very friendly and accomodating! Delicious vegan and vegetarian burgers (such a nice surprise!)! Great ice-creams and berry sorbet also.

Had the fish, squid rings, chips, mussel fritter.Crinkly cut pre frozen chips, squid rings without any squid inside, mussel fritter tasting like cardboard. Fish was ok
