Wellington Family Speedway

A night at the speedway is great entertainment and at this volunteer-run and club-owned track, you can still experience traditional grassroots motorsport at its best.The atmosphere is very family-oriented and tickets are affordable, with kids under 10 getting in free. You can bring your own food and drinks (no alcohol) or grab something to eat from one of the on-site food trucks (for the full speedway experience, a hot dog dipped in tomato sauce is required). There is plenty of seating around the track, but you can bring your own folding chairs in to sit on if you wish.Note: Race cars can be LOUD, so bring some hearing protection. Also, it can get a bit chilly after the sun goes down - so bring a warm jacket and a hat if you feel the cold.Pro-tip: If you want to take a look around the pits, plan to arrive at 6pm so you don't miss any racing (which usually starts at 7pm) and wear fully enclosed shoes.

Great family entertainment. Went here for the first time at Xmas 2018 and had an awesome evening. Family ticket is $50 which is a bargain for 3 hours of entertainment.Plenty of atmosphere with a good commentary for those of us unfamiliar with stock racing. Highly recommended.

A really good track and very well run. Good seating plenty of food and drinks available. Lots of classes of racing which can be found on line so you know what to expect. Adults $20 and prices vary depending on age or family pass so its good value for everyone.

One of two motorsport tracks where I feel I grew up with my (late) dad.Watching Ivan Mauger often on the speedway/solo bike- Ahh what days they were..I've seen many positive changes over the years in regards to safety for all, yet these track meets are still Truly a family eventFrom the tradition of having a hotdog n chips, (& awesome to see other food options available) to having volunteers help every night, to still being able to visit the Pits and always clean toiletsIts a safe warm feeling here with grassroots motorsport in New Zealand-one I hope I can get my grandkids to experienceThanks to all who make this night out, one of a kind in NZ (our Wellington Track)Highly recommend

Choice as evening at the stock cars. Nice heady aroma of ethanol and Demon Energy drinks. Saloons, stock, mini stock and pro stock. Free entry at half time, food, drinks and bogans galore. Awesome meet, with super professional track staff!

Went to the Speedway tonight. Perfect weather for the fireworks event they had. Spectacular show. 17 minutes of fantastic fireworks. Loved it. Well organised as always. plenty of security and eyes everywhere to feel like it was family friendly and safe. Loos were clean. 2 blocks of loos either side of the track. Great racing skills on display and just enough bumps and and such to keep it more exciting. Price of admission was well worth a full night of fun. They have food trucks and coffee. No alcohol, but that was fine. Totally recommend. Waiting for the demolition derby coming up.

If spending $30 for an adult and $10 for a kid over 10 (under 10 is free) and then watching a whole bunch of very noisy, sooped up lawn mowers racing around a track and flicking up mud and spending crazy prices for average food that you have to wait ages for - is your thing, then this is good. Heaps of parking and seating and different food options.

Great night of racing. Bring your own food as the food trucks are pretty expensive if you are bringing the whole family. Bring blankets and seats for a comfortable night. Its getting really cold don't forget jackets
