St Columba's Anglican Church
I pulled off the main road to try and find some dark sky for astronomy, and stumbled on this beauty. Gorgeous old church, in the middle of nowhere, I'll definitely be coming back for more photos when it's a bit darker!

The church on the hill. St Colomba’s is a tiny historic church in a “blink and you’d miss it” locale. It’s loveliness is in its classic NZ wooden pioneer style. Architecturally designed by the celebrated architect Frederick de Jersey Clere, it’s another stunning example of what pioneer Kiwis could do with the little they had available to them. Arson in the early 1900’s almost put an end to the building but it still stands today. It’s a monument to the glory of God and to the hard working early settlers of the area.
