Mercure Wellington Central City Hotel & Apartments

I’m very torn about this hotel, the location and staff were 5 stars but the hotel is very dated. My shower handle broke and they were very quick to fix it. Unlike other reviews, my room was serviced daily and they did a good job.There were scuff marks on the walls throughout and the decor was poor, my windows were filthy and it was loud but this is expected with the location so close to restaurants and bars. There was no waiting around for the lifts which can be a problem in smaller places.The features include a restaurant but it was no where to be found.I would stay here again, but it would have to be at a discounted price.

Hotel is very old & not in great shape. Windows not well insulated so hearing a lot of the street noise. The room itself was decent. Clean but basic.

Location was great. Extra $30 if you need parking and its in a parking building the next block over which is only suited to small vehicles. Our view was of raw sewage coming out a manhole, cigarette butts, nos canisters, alcohol bottles and bongs thrown over the utility sheds roof. We were a larger group so had multiple rooms, not a single one was clean or up to standard then to top it all off they messed up our booking and left us a room short so we ended up having to pay almost $500 extra for our 2nd night ontop of the $3000 we had already paid, normally we would of gone elsewhere but due to an event town was fully booked.. The ladies in reception were great but the whole experience left our group with a pretty sour taste.

No where to park your car when checking in. Had to park in Wilson St car park in the block behind and then walk back to the apartment with our suitcases.2 bedroom apartment. Beds were hard as was the pillows. Curtains were dirty and we kept them closed as we looked over the building site next door. Toaster was broken but was replaced when we told them. Fan in bathroom broken. Two chairs for an apartment that slept four.

Disappointing. Firstly there is no parking on site as advertised it’s at the other Mercure which isn’t far but still inconvenient. Our room was old with bleach stains on the carpet, a hole in the shower wall and stupidly the TV was behind a wardrobe so you couldn’t pivot it to watch it in Bed if you wanted to. So I asked to be move which was marginally better but looking straight a scaffolding and we were woken early buy the construction workers, I definitely won’t be staying here again!

Totally overpriced for what it is. Very disappointing as you’re normally pretty safe booking a Mercure and know what to expect. However this was totally the opposite to any previous stay in their hotels. Broken windows, old decor, a microwave but no utensils or plates etc. Noisey and unclean is how I would describe it. It’s a shame as the one thing it had going for it was the location and friendly staff. Wouldn’t recommend.

This is supposed to be a good hotel, but the Wifi is terrible! Its worst than even a third world country internet connection! I’m currently in the room 410, in todays date 18/07/2023 and the wifi is terrible… I can’t send emails and work on my business with this wifi.I have to use my own Data..

Our experience here has been quite good so far. We were checked in quite quick and the rooms are nice and clean. The only problem some people might have is the main bed was a but firm but that wasn't the biggest deal for me. Overall very happy with everything.

Reception staff very polite. Should advise visitors on booking that early morning construction works will wake you around 7. Rooms need a little attention. Two teaspoons no other utensils. No information book - thus no hotel or local info.

I will never stay at a Mercure Hotel again!!! Paid $1000.00 for a two night stay in a distinctly shabby room.The paint had flaked off in numerous areas. ?mould on the roof (if it wasn't mould I really don't want to know what it was)Construction next door which started at 4am one day.No air conditioning. Carparking is situated a block away.Only redeeming feature was location.
