The fish box
Our experience was a little hit and miss.We had issues with service. We were sitting inside and another customer enquired about an order sitting waiting. The staff said it was a different order number, but luckily we overhead as it was our number. The number was never called, we were right there waiting. It had been sitting there over 5min. We reluctantly accepted it but it was definitely not fully hot, especially by the time we got back to our accommodation.Then they stuffed up a burger. It was meant to be Bacon and Egg, which was on the receipt so we know we didn't mis-order. They gave Chicken and Bacon instead.So that really soured the experience.Apart from that, the fish was OK. The batter was really good but the snapper was too dry. It may have been due to the extra wait time.I wouldn't rush back but may give it another try if I'm nearby.

Great team. Excellent crumbed snapper for 40+ people. Chips stayed crisp and warm. Pre ordered and meals ready at on time for collection. Highly recommend the Fish Box for it's quality of food and service. Thanks team.

Decent fish and chips. The trevally was especially good value. We had the garlic chips, which was good, but essentially it's just the chips with a lump of garlic butter on the top - not sure why it was almost double the price. Minus a star overall because the service wasn't great. I told the guy that we'd eat it on the tables outside and he couldn't even be bothered to tell us when our order was ready, nor provided any cutlery, so I had to keep going back in.

Travelled there especially as rated the best fish and chips in Taupo. Very disappointed .Real fish and chips shouldn’t have crinkle cut chips. Asked for salt and vinegar on chips - couldn’t taste either .Fish tasted like it was pre battered. A slice of lemon would have been nice .

We tried the Gurnard, deep fried banana and the chips. All were excellent; the banana had a thin but crisp coating and a light dusting of cinnamon sugar, the fish was succulent and great value for money. There are plenty of other things that looked great on the menu like the bacon butie and burgers! There's only seating outside.

The best Fish and Chips we have had on our NZ trip by a mile!The chips were extra crispy with a good amount of salt. The chicken and Avocado burger was delicious and juicy! The fish burger was very crunchy and full of flavour. The Mars bar in batter was to die for with a great Cinnamon flavour. If I lived here, this would be my local!

We had a lovely takeout dinner here recently. The snapper was cooked to perfection with crisp not too thick batter. Chips, onion rings and potato fritters were great. Thoroughly recommend. We will be back.
