Taigh Na Mara Bed & Breakfast

We had a wonderful time here. We are a family of 4, traveling with a 3 year old and an infant (lovely cot). Next door is a playground and we had a beautiful afternoon at the beach just across the road. Carol is a fantastic host and cook. Carol very accommodating for non meat eaters. The homemade ice cream is to die for; so good our toddler fell asleep while eating it and managed to continue eating it while simultaneously snoring!

Our travel agent recommended Taigh na Mara and we’re glad he did! Perhaps a key reason was our brief to be able to swim in the sea and it’s so easy to do so from this B&B. The lovely sandy beach is just across the road and only three minutes walk from your bedroom door. Even better our hostess Carol goes for an early evening swim most days, as do friends of hers, so there’s company in the water!Carol was also very helpful with her local knowledge. This was especially important as our visit was at the tail end of the post-cyclone road closures. She also recommended Lukes Kitchen and the Ocean Leopard Boat tour, both of which we booked and very much enjoyed.Carol did a load of laundry for us and wouldn’t accept more than NZ$5 (we suggested she put her price up given that’s what many a hotel would charge for a single garment!)And then there’s the breakfast… fruit salad, muesli, and quite delicious homemade bread enhanced (if that’s possible) with scrambled eggs or a range of preserves.As you will have gathered Carol is a great hostess and you’re assured of a very warm welcome.

Carols place is a wonderful slightly hidden gem just at the right spot on the coromandel. Off the beaten path with wonderful dining options around (Luke's kitchen is a must!).Carols hospitality is impeccable, breakfast was lovely and she always had a fitting suggestion for our days we spent there.Our next coromandel trip will surely have a stay at Taigh Na Mara included :)

Spend a night in Carol's seaside escape. Clean, comfy room with a friendly hospitable host. Just across the road from Kuaotunu beach ( a bit of traffic noise but nothing intrusive with ranchslider closed.Carol is an amazing cook - make sure you pre-order your dinner before you arrive - Lovely meal and very reasonably priced.Would definitely stay a again if we are in the area.

Would highly recommend this traditional, hosted bed and breakfast. Large, well equipped room and ensuite, private courtyard, comfortable shared lounge and an excellent home made dinner. Breakfast was also very good. Our host was very welcoming and happy to share information about the surrounding area. So much more enjoyable than a key's in the lockbox" type accommodation."

We had one night at Taigh Na Mara on a golf weekend in the Coromandel. Carol was a fantastic host, great communication leading up to our stay and the breakfast in the morning was outstanding. Would highly recommend staying here. Thank you for your hospitality Carol.

Delightful place to stay! We stayed for 2 nights before Christmas, booked 2 rooms for my family. The rooms are spacious, the host Carol is the best. She cooked for us delicious dinner when ordered with a short notice and breakfasts were also great. I highly recommend this place! Thank you Carol ❤️

Carol is a wonderful host, and the place is great. Carol makes the bread and marmalade/jam herself and it is very tasty. Our toddler enjoyed playing the piano. We would recommend Taigh Na Mara to anyone!

beautiful accommodation that has everything you need. Carol takes care of her guests and makes you feel at home like you are with your mother. very cozy and just across the street is the beautiful beach.awesome
