Very disappointing experience with the Black Bean and Chow Mein, especially considering the good reviews. No ginger/garlic base, so it didn't even taste Chinese. I found the food bland and barely seasoned, though the veges were fresh and customer service was good. I'm just one person, taste is subjective and this place seems to have found a niche so good for them. I would not return unfortunately, not for me.

We had a very enjoyable meal from Te Aroha Chinese Takeaways. The special #1 which consists of chicken chow mein, sweet and sour pork & combination fried rice. For 6 people we added vegetable fried noodles and beef black bean & had loads of leftovers. We were really happy with everything, especially the amount of beautifully cooked veges. The staff/owners are absolutely lovely and the premises were very clean and tidy. So happy to have them here! We will definitely order again.

Brought a Hawaiian burger,only had meat patty pineapple ring,buns,sauce. Think she needs teaching how to make her burgers. Meat patties are disgusting.Had chicken fried rice and steak chow main. Holy shoot,9 pieces of chicken, same with chow main, loads and loads of veggies omg, I didnt ask for a vegetarian dish lol. Then got a steak fried noodles same again loads of noodles, had to add more meat.Nice that we have Chinese food in te aroha, there fish&chips are okay. Miss the dairys fish chips & burger's massive mean burgers.

Was lovely except the batter on the sweet and sour pork was too thick. The food itself was really nice. Will go again

Just had a beautiful dinner from here tonight. The vegetables (heaps of cauliflower!) were fresh and tasty and the sweet and sour pork was delicious. Will definitely be back!!!!!

Waited just under an hour for takeaway, they need more staff to prepare the meals. One person cooking and one answering phone and serving customers doesn't work for the volume of customers. Won't be going back.
