Horse racing is something special in New Zealand, also here in Ruakaka. Only a couple of times a year here is a racing day, for which the whole circus is built up, including a satalite connection so that you can bet in the whole country. If there are no races then this is a wonderful area for walking or watching a single person who is training his horse.

This was without doubt the best example of a bush/country race meeting that I have been too in both New Zealand and Australia.Even though the course is next to the beach it was greenFood was greatThe company great a the beer was cold.Recommend to all who is looking to find the real NZ country racing scene
