La Toscana Pizzeria
Perfectly average. Pizza topping range is limited (e.g., prosciutto pizza is a regular ham pizza). Without a strong salami the pizza is light in flavour. Crust is good. Busy the night we were in but following night completely quiet. Quick service. Staff were good.

Had pizza's from here twice during my stay and not only were the staff awesome and friendly, but the food was fantastic.I highly recommend the Americano Pizza. That was.. well I should have got the larger one. It was that good. The dessert was nice too.. loved it.When I come back down that way, I will be coming back to you guys.

The food was good but not special. The pizza was quite doughy and chewy and the pasta was more tomato than meat (contrary to a traditional Tuscan ragu)The reason for three stars however was the complete lack of organisation in the restaurant; from being seated, ordering to paying everything was an ordeal. I don’t blame the staff they were overwhelmed and clearly hadn’t been trained - there was no supervision. Also beware there are different prices for takeaway compared to eating in, however this is not clear and ultimately we were unwittingly ordering from a takeaway menu. There is no problem having different prices, however the takeaway menus should be clear/distinct from those for dining in.

Authentic Italian restaurant with large delicious pizzas for a reasonable price. Great service and friendly staff.

The service was absolutely atrocious and unacceptable. As first time tourists to New Zealand, this was our first time experiencing such horrible service. I have to say that the experience we had at this restaurant has spoiled our mood tonight. The food was okay, but nothing very special like the previous reviews from 2-3 months ago said.We arrived close to 8pm today asking if they had any tables available. A young waitress wearing denim shorts informed us that the restaurant was full, so we had to wait. I noticed a sign outside the restaurant indicating that their operating hours on Wednesdays end at 8.30pm, so I asked her if we would have enough time to eat if we did get a seat tonight as it was already 8pm. She looked at her watch and said something along the lines of ‘oh, to be fair I didn’t realise it’s already 8pm’, then informed us that we would only be able to takeaway our food. We told her that we would be going out to check other restaurants nearby instead. At this point, an Asian family of 3 (with a baby) waiting behind us overheard our conversation with the waitress, and decided to head out of the restaurant to check out The Ranch opposite. After checking out The Ranch opposite this restaurant, we found out that they were fully booked and their kitchen would be closing at 9pm, so we decided to walk back to La Toscana for a takeaway. Coincidentally, the same Asian family of 3 overheard our conversation with the waitress at The Ranch and decided to walk back to La Toscana too.We went to the cashier at La Toscana and told them we wanted a takeaway because ‘there doesn’t seem to be any tables available’. Another waitress took our order and asked us to wait for 15 minutes. While we were standing in the restaurant waiting for our takeaway, we saw the above mentioned Asian family of 3 walk into La Toscana and get offered a seat. Their waitress even took their order and served them drinks!A couple of minutes after the Asian family of 3 sat down at their table and began drinking, a lady wearing a green jacket walked in and asked for a seat. She was promptly offered a reserved seat (the waitress removed the ‘Reserved’ table sign before she let the lady sit down) and the lady promptly had her order taken. The waitress wearing denim shorts then went to pick up the phone to call the customer who had reserved the table to ask whether she would still be coming!!!!We found this very odd as the waitress in the denim shorts told us earlier that they would only be doing takeaways from now on.I urge everyone to enjoy their meals elsewhere. Please don’t spoil your day here.To the owner of this restaurant: if you look at the 1 and 2 star reviews here, you’ll notice many of them mentioning messy, bad, and slow service. You really have to take a serious look at the way your staff have been trained and how they are supervised.

I doubt an Italian has ever seen the inside of the kitchen here. Pasta and pizza place that didnt have any pasta the day we went. Seats so close person behind me kept banging theirs into mine lifting the back of mine off the floor. Ordered 2 pizzas one was inedible. Base like a cracker that just shattered with barely anything on it. One bite was enough, couldnt eat the rest. Other was a pepperoni but had cheap salami not pepperoni and bakers cheese not mozzarella. Base was like something out of the supermarket freezer. Staff disinterested and gossiping about customers behind the counter.

Not sure it was because we were hungry after a long hike, the seafood pizza we have for sharing was one of the best we ever eaten. Pretty of seafood and they blended in well in taste. Thin crust was firm even after the pizza was cold.

Do yourself a favour by avoiding this place please.Wanted to get a table for dinner for 2 on a Wednesday at 7.50pm and was told that all the tables for taken, which is true with a table with a “Reserved” sign. Thus they suggested for takeaway which we did.Just 5 mins waiting for our takeaway, a lady came in and asked for a table for 2 and the table with the “Reserved” sign was given to them without any prior reservations. And the whole restaurant is in total chaos without proper organisation. The closing time of 8.30pm seems to not be observed. The takeaway was really disappointing with lukewarm garlic bread and pizza without much flavours. Really disappointed with this level of service and food from a restaurant with this many reviews.Would have given a zero-star review if that’s possible.

Visiting Te Anau and felt like pizza. It was between two restaurants; we decided on this one for their delivery deal - free if $30 spent. We were three adults ordering three medium pizzas. Unfortunately, when the pizzas arrived they were more like a small; a child-sized pizza. No diameter listed on the menu.See photos for reference (standard BIC pen and hand to show). Very disappointing. Pizzas were okay but nothing exceptional; the one positive was that they were well-garnished.

So the salad is okay, but too violent. Tastes delicious but too much garlic. Don't order if you want to be around people for the next three days. The pizza is a real poem.Definitely try the Alchemia.I am not a vegetarian, but I think it's great to find a selection that shows that you can eat delicious without meat. Most of the time veggie pizzas are boring. Not here. The base is thin, the ingredients are fresh, and the composition shows outstanding creativity!
