About the Business

Sisu Eatery and Bar | Our focus is on sharing food, good times, and stories in a casual and relaxed environment. We will use as much of New Zealand and Marlborough produce as possible but bring a Nordic twist to it. Our wine list is focused on smaller producers, and we hope to bring in some exciting new wines for you to try. We have also paired up with Boneface brewery for your Craft beer needs!

Great position looking out over the sound.The food is small plates but the choice and quality are 5 star. Prices are good tooWine list is extensive and the guy serving it is very knowledgeable and will reccomend a pairing for each dish if neededAt the moment the restaurant is only licenced till 9.00pm so advised to book an early table to avoid disappointment

I can see why this place gets all 5 star reviews. Both food and service were exceptional. Standout dishes were the meatballs and venison - both very flavourful dishes with lovely juicy tender meat. We also loved the tempura cabbage, so crispy and crunchy (though was a tad greasy). The spinach and goat cheese pancakes weren't quite to our taste, but were beautifully presented and an interesting flavour combination. Would highly recommend this restaurant!

Refined, simple and elegant vegan options, including a subtly flavoured tempeh and delicious creamy tofu sauce with asparagus. Great views over the harbour and a sensational wine list of local vintages. Helpful and passionate owner was very sensitive to vegan diets.Favourite place in Picton.

Yum! Walked in about 5:30 and got lucky to get a table. Staff was great and helped us order both food and wine. The food was delicious. Everything tasted fresh and great. This would be on a weekly rotation if we lived nearby!

Amazing dining experience, one of those restaurants you would give 6 stars if you could. It's run by a Finnish/german couple serving Finnish classics in fine dining style.By sheer coincidence i actually went here with a Finnish couple and they explained to me that most of these dishes can be traced back to finland.Would highly recommend trying the Mushrooms, Crudo and Venison. These to me are absolute musts as the flavour combinations are brilliant. Nevertheless, the other 2 dishes we had were also delicious.The staff was both really professional and cheerful. The service was quick and the atmosphere was nice. It's fine dining at a very reasonable price, as it is not much more expensive than the more standard restaurants around it. Reserve in advance Because it's very popular, it's easily the best restaurant in town!

For those if you heading to Picton can’t recommend highly enough the newly opened @sisupicton restaurant. Their focus is on delivering a quality experience and they certainly did that. So much so went back two nights in a row! Amazing food and fantastic staff! Beautiful location too! Thanks Sisu!

Absolutely delicious; lovely menu for sharing or eating on your own. Fresh, imaginative, avoids the pitfall of making food over-complicated yet the menu is still very imaginative and creative. Superb-looking wine and cider list as well

Great place for Friday night. Should of got the full 48 dollar tapas. Liked food but we were waiting for a boat to come in from Sounds.Nice and warm with great view of harbour.Very friendly staff. Dogs allowed outside and 2 dogs were very well behaved and happy.

Had a wonderful evening at Sisu, the food is exquisite, the presentation is immaculate, and the care that goes into the ingredients is to be celebrated. We didn’t order a dish we didn’t immediately want more of, and we can’t wait to go back. The food is seasonal, so enjoy what is there at the time - it will be the best. The staff make you welcome, and we couldn’t have felt more comfortable.

Great service here. We didn’t know what to order so we did a “Leave it to us”. It was really enjoyable. Personal favourites are Troy’s Hapuka Crudo, Stuffed Mushrooms and Premium Game Venison.
