Specsavers Optometrists - Shirley

Got glasses for the first time last week . Had migraines , headaches , blurry vision, sore strained eyes . Went back yesterday and the prescription they had gave me was too strong . Not sure if this happens much but had a pretty distressing 4-5 days till I found this out . The man I saw yesterday who realised this was lovely and very informative. A shame the first person didn’t get it right or offer more information. Staff in general were friendly and helpful . However one young lady I asked a question said she would find out and walked away and never came back .

I am giving Specsaver Shirley one star because I have experienced a rudeness there I never experienced before in any eyewear shop - the optometrist just finished testing my eyes and was about to explain what have changed with my eyes when the retail partner knocked and came in and told the optometrist it is done (poor guy was basically cut off at “So this is what changed with your eyes..”) and retail partner basically pulled me out to choose glasses. I did not even have the time to know how my eyes were and I haven’t had any exam in more than three years. How rude. I also wish my options with the glasses and lens options were properly discussed considering they had 50% lens discount for the lenses when buying two pairs and not just assume my prior preferences three years ago were the same. At least ask.

Overall it was a great experience. I had to wait some time to get the focal point of my progressive lenses sorted out. A youngster who had worked at the store for 7 months came to do it. I requested someone with more training as corrective glasses are expensive and vital to my building work. Otherwise very friendly and competent.Thank you

Specsavers do NOT make provision for ordinary phones on their website, nor do they answer their telephone when you ring. They want to ring back at their convenience NOT yours. When I called into the physical shop to make an appointment staff carried on with the tasks they were doing (one on computer). This is extremely poor customer service.

I was really excited to pick up my new progressive glasses. I tried them on to find the long vision really good. Was given a sheet to read off and could only read the largest font. I was looking for Specsavers to offer a solution to help me with the glasses. I was told my prescription was correct, and that the best they could do was offer a pair of reading glasses and a pair for long vision. I was looking for a solution to help with the progressive lens. A really disappointing outcome.

This team were patient, held their composure as I had a cousin who is emotionally and mentally sick that attended my appointment too and had to be left for a while. The front of house staff tended to her and done her an eye test just so she felt apart of the appointment too and kept her busy while I was tended too. I truly appreciate the team at The Palms. Awesome customer service from Fiona the optometrist, made me feel at ease for the eye examination and Callum the technician takes over in helping you choose frames that suit you and explain the ordering process. Callum has a bright caring personality and shares his knowledge of eye care with his customers. When your glasses arrive he arranges apt and ensures your glasses are a perfect fit. If you do need to return for adjustments you are served with a smile :)

Friendly and very professional service. Great value for money and a good choice of frames. It is very reassuring to know that if there are any issues with my glasses I have the 3 month time frame to sort it out. Keep up the great work Specsavers Shirley, much appreciated!
