Great free attraction for families and bird lovers. Enclosures feel a little bit small for the Kea and other bigger parrots but all the birds seem happy enough.

Its amazing to see these colorful creatures anywhere, even in dunedin botanic garden. It makes the place vivid. The cages are kinda robust so not ideal to take photos but the birds are curious and you could see them most of the times. And boy sometimes they are loud!Would be great if the cages were even bigger so they have room to fly more. Nevertheless, its nice to see them. Some of them are talking parrots as well, especially Sid. Say “hello” to him and he might repeat.

If you get the chance to visit this park then be sure to check out the bird Avery. The various species of parrots, with their terrific colours, are spectacular.Ho, and don't forget to have a chat with Sid the talking parrot!

A really really nice aviary. Love the sprinklers for the birds. Gorgeous birds. Can be a little bit hard to see through the chains, some of them are quite thick and small. Really beautiful enclosures with nice plants and scenery for the birds. A cool walk to get to the aviary - surrounded by really lovely scenery. Very clean area also. I recommend taking a walk over here while you look around the rest of the Botanic Garden! (:

The bird avaries are at the top of the gardens off Lovelock ave. Or you can park down the hill in the gardens carpark, and walk up through the numerous walks admiring the plants from all over the globe on your way up. Love the birds exotic and native. Sid the parrot will talk to you.Cafe and toilets at the main gardens. Toilets and car park off Lovelock ave.Across the road from lovelock ave is the northern cemetery and if you follow Lovelock ave down the hill you will come across Otago University. All good to wander through.

Fairly large outdoor aviary in the botanical garden. It was a bit of an uphill climb to get here from the main entrance. Quite a lot of different birds in various cages. Good place to stop by if you are at the botanical gardens.

Been here many times over the years and is still a great free thing to do in Dunedin. They have a huge range of different parrots and other birds. Great place to bring the kids on a nice day. You can also walk down to the botanic gardens from nearby which I would also recommend.Gates close at 6PM
