Clare Martin Singing Teacher

Clare is an excellent, patient and fun teacher to have. She understands the mechanics of the voice and the student gets the benefit of this. We have worked together for several years and I have learnt so much , and importantly continue to learn from her.

Through a friend, I discovered Clare briefly after moving to Auckland. I am very grateful for that. I love her lessons, they are always fun, encouraging, and consider what I feel like working on on that day. At the same time, they are very systematic with very knowledgeable explanations, instructions and demonstrations tailored to the student. Clare has helped me grow where I need to grow and develop a bit of a repertoire I can draw from short notice. I now go less fearful into auditions and have recently been able to sing a duet at The Bruce Mason Centre. Thank you Clare for your support! I love that we are exploring different styles. Classical singing, legit singing in musical theatre, a little bit jazzy and recently with more of a focus on integrating acting, enunciation and rhythm better into my performance. Clare is very strong on vocal health too and considers where you are at on the day. Looking forward to learning to belt next!

Clare is one of the few vocal teachers I’ve come across with both the depth of knowledge and experience to continually stretch me in my technique in a healthy and holistic way, as well as the openness to working with my more “unique” style of singing. I've been learning from Clare for 6 years now and have enjoyed every moment in her lessons! She finds a variety of individualised teaching strategies that are tailored to my needs as a vocalist and teaches with the utmost care and patience. I've experimented in both Classical, Musical Theatre, and a bit of Jazz since Clare has expertise so many aspects of the voice. With Clare, my passion for music has grown and she inspires me with every lesson.

Clare has been fantastic!I have not had training before but had some limited experience in local musical theatre.Clare very quickly recognised areas to work on, as well as offering styles and other genres to play with.Most importantly Clare provides an environment to gain confidence in your voice. To have fun in discovering your voice through technique and having those moments of joy when you feel and hear those improvements through the process.I honestly couldn't recommend Clare and just singing highly enough!
