Famous VFX studio, around 4-5 thousand VFX companies exist providing VFX services, but around 40 tender for many of the lead VFX projects on wide release cinema projects. Weta is one of them; famous decades ago for the Lord of the Rings adaptations, and for developing images for Avatar, among a huge number of other projects.The downside to the company is the huge tax subsidies they request for, essentially, US senior staff and foreign content. Poor workplace conduct issues have appeared in the press and of course Jackson has produced consistently disappointing feature film work for eighteen years at this point (2021), although the original Tolkien trilogy continues to draw tourist interest. The Weta founder offered money and support to Wellington's current conservative mayor also, during a phase of consistent infrastructure and planning issues to the detriment of people that actually live here.

What I would give to visit WETA Digital. It was great just to stand outside the location where such incredible digital effects come from.

They don't let somebody take pictures and touch anythings. i think better go to the mini museum
