Came to see the show Kinky Boots which was amazing!!!. Plenty of parking at the civic carpark, easy access to get to Queen Street with a short walk down to the Civic. Beautiful & luxurious furnishings inside. Toilets were very clean and easy to find.

I've been to a number theaters around the world but I have never seen one anything like this. The Indian-inspired decorated foyer is spectacular. The ornately decorated columns with elephant capitals, seated Buddhas, the star-sprinkled ceiling, and the elephant decorated chandelier are just some of the amazing decorations! If you didn't know you were in New Zealand you'd think you were in India! The Civic theater in Auckland is a must visit.

What an amazing venue we are very lucky to have jt in auckland and for it to be in great condition. Have been there for dance parties, movies, shows, concerts and art exhibitions and has been perfect everytime. There is food and drink on site. Plenty of toilets and lots of helpful people. A must see if you get the chance to see something there.

I went for a Civic tour about a month ago and I would highly recommend it. We had a knowledgeable and excellent guide (apologies for forgetting his name due to my goldfish memory!), the tour even went overtime because we had such a great time with so many questions and exploring the nooks and crannies of the theater. Such a beautiful theater, you can see the hard work and passion going into preserving it.

I would love to live in this building! It is super stunning. Saw Peep Show a couple of weeks ago. Had the best seats in the house, front row of the Gods. Can't wait to return one day

Absolutely love attending any event at The Civic. However, went on a tour today and was a little disappointed. While the tour guide was informative on some counts, I felt he could have concentrated a little more on the fact that this is a classic Art Deco building. There were no photos or hall of fame on Freida Stark and the dance troop which was rather dismissive, given their story and the attention they attracted in the day.The tour guide was friendly enough, but his sarcastic quips on certain facts, including Russian dancers and a certain radio personality were totally unnecessary. He needed to remain unbiased in his views. All in all, a little too expensive at the grand price of $50 per ticket.I must add that this will not deter me from supporting future shows in Auckland. This theatre is fabulous and holds many wonderful memories. The starlit sky above, the elephants and other Art Deco features are outstanding.

We saw Kinky boots here which really went all out, live orchestra and superb lighting lovely theater which resembles an Egyptian renaissance. There's a wine and beer wet bar, and good parking close at hand. Easily accessible seats for all ages.
