Port Chalmers Maritime Museum
Great place to visit for free, huge collection of all sorts of model ships, all very interesting and well cared for.Lots of information available and very friendly and knowledgeable staff. We had limited time here, but will be back for a more extensive visit, this place has easy access for mobility impaired visitors.Highly recommended.

Great little museum. Very helpful staff, and a good range of relevant souvenirs. The area is hugely significant to early Antarctic exploration. The displays are well set out, and the numerous model boats have great attention to detail.

Interesting little museum with a good range of port and shipping information together with some of the people and families involved in the early days. Was a bitterly cold day outside but not inside as was warmed with heat pumps.

Small museaum with the history of port chalmers and city around. One place to how what good old sailors navigate through waters. Free entrance. Calm place. Reccommended to all seafareres who visit port chalmers.

We visited a number of times before covid in early 2020. Sadly this museum is very reduced in displays and not nearly as interesting as it was

Excellent source of info. I was doing family research. The town library is right across the road and they too have a very good local history/reference section.

This was a cool free (do donate though) museum right by the Port. There is a ton of history here and the staff was extremely friendly. I sat there and chatted with the woman working for 30 min and she was very knowledgeable and great! I would certainly recommend anyone in the area to stop down and have a look around.

Interesting quaint local museum. A good bit of history. Probably the highlight of the town for tourists to visit. Not much to see though in terms of how museums go.

This has to be the best museum experience I have ever had. The curator has so much information and has lived in Port Chalmers for most of his life and can give first hand experiences around all the items in the museum. It was facinating to hear his stories and wonderful that he was so prepared to share this. A wonderfully personal experience
